Transitioning from Growth Marketing to GTM Engineer: Seeking Advice and Resources
Hey everyone! I'm Jad Assi ๐ I work at an investment firm focused on B2B SaaS, where my role sits squarely in growth marketing, but lately I've had a bit of a lightbulb moment. Our portfolio companies have been posting a wave of GTM Engineer roles, and as I read through the required skill sets, I kept thinking... "wait, this is just what I do every day." So I'm looking to make the transition official and start positioning myself as a GTM Engineer. A few things I'd love to get the community's perspective on:
How should I frame my marketing background when talking to recruiters? What signals do they actually look for?
What separates a good GTM Engineer from a great one, is it more about the tools, the systems thinking, or something else?
Any go-to resources for leveling up on the GTM engineering mindset and workflows?
Appreciate any advice, excited to learn from this group!
