Hey all — I’m just getting started in GTM and I’m trying to build simple inbound and outbound workflows using Clay. I also have access to Zapier, Claude Work, and Attio, and I’m trying to figure out the easiest way to connect everything without making the setup too complex. I’m also learning about webhooks and HTTP so I can better understand how these tools connect and how to build better automations. Would love any guidance on:
the simplest way to structure this stack,
whether Zapier is always necessary,
and how you’d approach building these kinds of workflows or agents from scratch.
Any advice or examples would be really appreciated.
Hey Roberto m. if I were in your shoes, I would try with baby steps here. First, think of a basic outbound workflow such as identify ICP, enrich those with contacts, connect Clay to Smartlead, Instantly, Email Bison etc. Next, build a second workflow with one layer of complexity: for instance, for each account in workflow #1 try to pull data from Glassdoor reviews using Apify or Rapid API; try to see what employees say about these companies In a third workflow, add one more layer of complexity - AI: use the Glassdoor reviews as inputs and try get the following outputs: 1) one sentence summarizing the pros of the company and 2) one sentece summarizing the cons of the company Build step by step. Re-do workflows that people publicly share on LinkedIn. Do this every day. After month 1, you will see the magic happens 🪄 Good luck on your GTME journey. Most importantly, enjoy the ride 🎢
Hey Roberto m., it's mandatory for members to add their full names and a profile picture to their Slack profile (pets or AI-generated portraits also work). The community feels more intimate and less anonymous when one knows who they are engaging with so will be great if you can update your profile here. Thanks in advance! 🤝
Also, Zapier isn't always necessary as Clay has lots of native integrations! 🙂
Much appreciated guys!
Roberto m. You can DM me - we can have a 30-45 min so I can walk you through what I have built so far (well, not everything :)
Hey Roberto m. - happy to help, I started using Zapier and webhooks and realised that it was probably a more complicated place to start using Clay. Happy to help if you give some examples of what workflows you're looking to build/problems you're trying to solve.
This may seem very simple and I am definitely new to Clay but when I was at the Clay Workshop here in Austin the two things I learned that set me up for success that I had not done prior to the workshop.
AI Context - you can use Claud eto help you come up with this and their skills or you can use Clay. This helps you build out your Company description, ICP, and your Ideal buyer Personas.
ClayGents - Using templates is a great way to start here before you start from scratch. Once I watched the trainers set them up its super easy to use and test out!
