Hey Clay crew, Why the emails from the waterfall would not populate in the email column in this table? Thanks, Igor
That’s for the diligent explantation Bo - you rock! 🚀 All is clear now! Cheers! 🙏
Hey Igor,
Here’s what’s happening with your waterfall setup and why emails aren’t showing in your final column:
The waterfall runs through providers to find emails, then validates each one. When a provider finds an email, you’re charged credits for that lookup because the provider did its job. Each provider has its own database and works independently, so there’s no way to predict results or pass emails from one provider to another.
Once an email is found, it’s sent to a validation provider:
If valid, it appears in the final column (since the merge column is set to output only valid emails).
If invalid (in your case, flagged by ZeroBounce), that result is used as a run condition to trigger the next email verification tool.
If another provider finds the same email, we skip re-validation to save you credits — but you still pay for the initial lookup. Each email-finding tool is independent and doesn’t communicate with the others.
The key point: only validated emails appear in the final column. That’s why you see empty cells even when providers found emails — they didn’t pass validation. We also prevent re-running validation on emails that were already detected as invalid.

Let me know if you have more questions.
Can you please connect me with another rep? I feel as if I am wasting my time…
Final point: I need to manually copy and paste the emails. The emails are not populated in the email column. This is dissapointing!
so you are charging me credits for the same email that was already invalid?
Sayli, pushing back on something that is very obvious only aggravates the issue.
Zerobounce was not triggered for the second source.
The validation of the second source did not go through, yet you are pulling data from the third source. this should not be the case! Unless the second source is invalid, the third source should not be triggered!
Please if you don’t know the real reason behind this glitch - do not speculate. In this case, I would reach out to someone who is more technical than me.
I am manually copying-and pasting the emails 😂 so a bit of out time
The waterfall does not work properly. I got a super valid email, yet you are sending a call to another provider. This is really dissapointing!
The entire table looks strange. Multiple providers pull the same data. To the best of my understanding, this has nothing to do with the number of providers. There is a technical glitch. I am not able to get the emails so I guess I should go manual… which beats the purpose of Clay. Hope at least we are aligned on the latter!
