We're looking at transitioning our whole operation from Google > Microsoft. We've only ever had domains / inboxes for sending cold email set up on Google - it's all we know. Is it still possible to do cold outreach with Microsoft? Genuinely no idea, and not sure where to start / who to task re. implications / trade off. Any help / advice would be much appreciated.
Yes you can absolutely run cold outreach from Microsoft (OYutlook/Office 365), but setup is a bit stricter than Google. You’ll need to warm up your domains, set correct DNS (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), and use a sending tool that supports Outlook SMTP or Microsoft Graph API. Deliverability can be slightly lower than Google at first, but once warmed, it’s stable.
Will our existing domains (~50) transfer over easy enough? We've been sending from them for 18 months out of Smartlead.
yes your ~50 domains will move over fine. You’ll just need to re-configure DNS settings inside Microsoft (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) and slowly ramp sending again so Outlook’s reputation system learns your domains. Because they’ve already been active for 18+ months, warm-up should go faster.
I'm using Smartlead and I think they work with outlook emails. Also something pretty cool is that the warmup feature is already included in the price. No need to buy it separately.
Yes, you can do cold outreach with Microsoft just set up SPF, DKIM and DMARC warm up your domains and use a cold email tool like Instantly or Smartlead for safe sending.
We've been using smartlead for 2.5 years.
If you are looking to switch, id recommend diversifying in SMTP as well
Hey Alex J. , I can help you migrate to Outlook or MS 365 from Google fully automated using our product InboxKit.com. I won't recommend setting this up manually can be a whole of a haphazard process with a lot of implications and mistakes being possible. Happy to help you out here.
