Anyone did queries into Crunchbase? I wonder if this is even doable or not! I have a list of Investors. I have a list of company ICP criteria (HQ location, Total equity funding amount, Last Equity funding type, industries...) I have a list of fields I'd like to get returned. So I'd like to get a list of ICP accounts for each investor I have on the list. (so ICP accounts from these investors portfolio) Clay would need to look up companies with Investor name=[list], filter this with the ICP criteria and then return the necessary field values I need for these portfolio companies. I am looking at the Enrichment options and don't really have a sense of direction how this can be achieved. Any of you did anything like this?
Hey Bálint — yes, this is doable, but not directly in one click inside Clay, since Crunchbase’s enrichment is limited and their API has rate limits. We’ve handled similar investor→portfolio→ICP filtering workflows like this:
Investor portfolio extraction – pull portfolio companies via Crunchbase API (or exported lists if you have CB Pro).
ICP filtering – run the company list back through Clay with filters (HQ, funding amount/type, industries, etc.) using enrichment sources like Clearbit, People Data Labs, or LinkedIn scraping.
Final enrichment – add the exact fields you need via Clay’s multi-source enrichment, then export to your target format.
If you want, we can share a working playbook from our team that takes an investor list and outputs ICP-qualified portfolio companies in one pipeline. Best, Sourabh Panoptic Analytics panopticanalytics.com sourabh@panopticanalytics.com LI: https://www.linkedin.com/in/sourabh85/
hey Sourabh. That's interesting to hear. Yeah I'd be delighted to check something that works already. My only not too automated way was supposed to just export the full ICP list from CB based on the filters (bit by bit as there is a 1k limit). And then in Clay pull investor information on them to find which ICP companies they invested it. So sort of approaching it from the opposite way. The problem still is that it needs like 10 Clay credits to query one ICP company so the whole thing would be like 40k+ credits.
