Just wrapped up my second GTM engineering project - building a signal-driven prospecting system in Clay! (Check out the images attached!)
The Problem: Most sales teams waste time on cold outreach to companies that aren't ready to buy. They blast the same generic message to everyone, hoping something sticks. Simple and ineffective "Spray and Pray". The outcome? Low response rates, burned leads, and demotivated reps.🫠
The Solution: Built a simple intent-based outbound prospecting system that identifies companies that show real buying signals:
Manually researched 10 Series A/B SaaS companies in India (Crunchbase & LinkedIn) --> This can definitely & more easily be done using Clay's enrichments.🚀
Tracked funding data + employee growth over 6 months --> Best approach by using enrichments, just trying to save up on credits at the moment 😅
Built intent scoring system using formulas:
Recent funding (<6mo) + high growth (30%+) = higher intent
Scores range 0-10, segmented into 3 priority tiers💯
Found decision makers (VPs/Heads etc) for each company
Enriched person + company data
Generated AI-personalised openers tied to respective growth signals🔥
The Impact: Sales reps now focus on Tier 1 prospects (score 7-10) who just raised funding or are rapidly hiring - the exact moments when companies need better GTM systems. 🎉
