Hey All, I've got a problem I'm hoping someone here has solved before. I have about 10 solid video testimonials—SaaS founders and tech companies talking about specific results we delivered at Design Fervor (3-5x conversion rate improvements through product design work). These are genuinely good testimonials with real ROI numbers, not generic praise. But I can't figure out how to actually use them in cold outreach without tanking deliverability. Here's what I've tried:
Embedding videos directly
Large GIF previews
Plain YouTube links
Every approach I've tested either hurts deliverability or just doesn't get engagement.
Using video/GIF testimonials in cold outreach almost always hurts deliverability. What works best is to not send the video at all in the first email — instead: Winning approach:
Personal opener
Social proof in one sentence (“helped X, Y, Z get 3–5x conversion improvements”)
Call-to-action
Link to testimonial only in follow-up after they reply or engage
If you really want it in the first email, use a text-only link disguised as a case study, not as a “video link.” Never embed, never attach, never use GIF previews.
You can also insert a small sentence from the testimonial, like: "<Company> improved our ROI by 150%" - Jeff Bezos, Founder, Amazon Happy to share full testimonial video.
But make it relavant to the company.
Ahmed R. - great question! People generally go to your website if they are interested in your services. If you can have the same testimonials on the home page, it would. Also, my suggestion is just an example; think about a creative way to pull one or two sentences from the testimonials without sounding salesy. We use customers' names all the time, and it works.
