Question for the community: We have LinkedIn company ID in many cases, but not the LinkedIn URL. Yes, we can compose the URL like this: https://www.linkedin.com/company/[ID-HERE]/ … but a bunch of the native Clay enrichment tools choke on this and call it “invalid”. So we need to translate this somehow to the format: https://www.linkedin.com/company/[FRIENDLY-NAME]/. I can do it easily using one credit using the Clay Company Enrichment, but we have thousands, maybe 10's of thousands of these and I’d prefer not to burn thousands of credits for such a simple operation. Does anyone have a way to do this mapping for free?
Use a formula?
Hello Brice! I think we might be able to use this redirect page enrichment to get the other format of urls: https://downloads.intercomcdn.com/i/o/w28k1kwz/1212883968/54d02e4ed8a53f0eb0414ad75db6/CleanShot+2024-10-11+at+11_12_15%402x.png?expires=1728661500&signature=7d322df662f41dcf95ed1ad0fe44746363041abc4fae603dcfc03d4b50cead49&req=dSImFMF2nohZUfMW1HO4zV1fwvaN8YcryH9w30mmYo2XCSxWRTJLuODdlnPS%0AfBV3%0A Do you mind sending the link to the table so we can take a look? https://downloads.intercomcdn.com/i/o/1171717996/ac7729f84b426e1d0358af02/image.png?expires=1728661500&signature=847089255aba00a4ad300633d4c4ed6857114e38ee15c3e9eab478b121634a10&req=dSEgF85%2FmohWX%2FMW1HO4zYTywCP6AJYT2BKsam%2FhVPttVQ%3D%3D%0A
As a test you can try running it on this value “https://www.linkedin.com/company/684004/”
It should come back with “https://www.linkedin.com/company/3pillar/” … but the value it returns is: “https://www.linkedin.com/uas/login?session_redirect=%2Fcompany%2F684004%2F”
Gabriel Not possible to use a formula. You would need a map of all of LinkedIn’s CompanyID --> CompanyName values. You must either be able to correctly parse the redirect from one to other, or you must use an enrich function that returns the “friendly” company profile URL with the human readable company name in it. LinkedIn is not doing a simple redirect either. They are running JS scripts that redirect. So the situation is also complicated by that.
Hey Brice, thanks for reaching out! It sounds like you’re looking for a way to map LinkedIn company IDs to their “friendly-name” URLs without using up all your credits. You’ve already considered using Clay’s Company Enrichment, but with the volume you’re dealing with, it makes sense that you’re seeking a more cost-effective option. Unfortunately, most native Clay enrichment tools (like Claygent, Scrape Website, and others) seem to struggle with this particular operation. The one tool that might work is Datagma, though it costs 2 credits. Another potential route could be setting up your own API, but as you mentioned, you’d still run into scraping limits and potential blocks, depending on how LinkedIn is set up. While there doesn’t seem to be a free solution, you might want to check out APIFY actors. They could offer some useful automation, though likely not for free either. If you’d like more detailed guidance on any of these options, feel free to ask! 😊
