Hi all I am trying to export a CSV but some of the cells in a specific column are randomly adding a "=" symbol to certain cells. Is anyone aware of a fix for this? Thanks
Hi there!
Hi there! How can I assist you today?
Hi, please see the edited message above.
Hi there!
this issue is causing further problems when trying to upload to Instantly
When trying to upload to Instantly, a common issue that can cause problems is a "missing input" error. This typically occurs when the column names in your Clay table don't match the expected input fields in the Instantly enrichment settings. To resolve this, double-check that you're using the correct column names from your Clay table when setting up the Instantly enrichment. For example, you might need to use a specific column name like "validated work email" instead of a generic "email" column. Can you provide more details about the specific error message you're seeing or the steps you've taken so far in setting up the Instantly enrichment in Clay? Some of the cells in the exported CVS from Clay have added "=" symbol which is causing the upload to fail
To resolve this issue with the '=' symbols in your CSV export, I recommend creating a dedicated "CSV Export View" in Clay before exporting: 1. Duplicate your current view 2. Hide or delete any columns you don't need 3. Focus only on including the essential raw values needed for InstantlyThis approach will help ensure your exported CSV contains clean, properly formatted data that's compatible with Instantly's upload requirements. If you continue experiencing issues after trying this method, you may need to request human support for further assistance with the specific formatting requirements for Instantly uploads. Hey, thanks for reaching out - From which table is this from? Do you mind sending the link to the table so we can take a look? https://downloads.intercomcdn.com/i/o/1171717996/ac7729f84b426e1d0358af02/image.png?expires=1736609400&signature=2bf048f4c6cfc3e6fcee93e65b1699a9cd50c81b9905420d22d8c7bbf80d98a0&req=dSEgF85%2FmohWX%2FMW1HO4zYTywS36Bp4S2BKsam%2FhVPuZlA%3D%3D%0A
Sure. its this one. But i have a feeling that some of the characters in some of the cells are not being parsed
Hey Matthew - I just tried on my end and to avoid Excel formatting issues, you have a few options: 1. Import directly to Clay/Instantly without opening in Excel first since it handles the CSV parsing correctly 2. Use Google Sheets instead as it handles these special characters better 3. If you need to use Excel: - Use "Paste Special" > "Text" when copying data - Or open the CSV with a text editor first, then copy/paste as text into Excel The formatting issues happen because Excel tries to interpret certain characters as formulas. Direct import or using Google Sheets will preserve your data accurately.
Thanks Bo options 1 is not possible as I dont have the integration with Clay. Using google sheets to upload the file results in the same issue so i think that certain symbols in some of the cells are being processed as formulas, as you say When opening the CSV in a text editor, the cell alignment is totally off so pasting it into excel doesn't work (or am I doing something wrong?)
