can you start from your own template in your own workspace for a table instead of duplicating everytime
Yes! You can create personal templates to avoid duplicating tables every time. Here's how:
Duplicate your table once
Move it to a separate workbook - this keeps the table structure without the data
Add '[Template Do Not Delete]' to the table title so you know which one to duplicate
When you need a new table, just duplicate from this template table instead of starting from scratch.
You can also create tables from existing templates by clicking + Create New > Table > Use Template and choosing from available templates. [1]

Can I create my own table template?
Yes! You can create your own table templates in Clay. Here's how:
For full table templates:
Duplicate your existing table
Move it to a separate workbook - this keeps the structure without the data
Add '[Template Do Not Delete]' to the title so you know it's your template
For column group templates:
Select multiple columns by holding ⌘ (Mac) or Ctrl (Windows) while clicking column titles
Right-click and select "Save as template"
Name your template and click "Create template" [1]
This way you can reuse your custom setups without rebuilding from scratch each time.

when you create a table from template, theres only a few options - can I add templates there?
The templates shown when creating a table are the official Clay templates available at clay.com/templates. [1] You can't add your own custom table templates to that list.
However, you can create shareable workbook templates by selecting "Share as Template" in the workbook dropdown menu, which creates a shareable link anyone can copy to their workspace. [2]
For reusable column setups, you can create column group templates by selecting multiple columns and saving them as templates for future use. [3]

Can I template a workbook or only a table?
You can template both workbooks and tables!
For workbooks: Click on your workbook title → scroll down → toggle on "Share as Template" → copy the public link. [1]
For tables: Same process - click the table title → "Share as Template" → copy the link.
When you share as a template, only the structure and one sample row are shared, not your actual data.

The "Share as Template" option isn't in that dropdown menu. You need to click on the actual workbook title itself (where it says "Untitled workbook") - not the dropdown arrow next to it.
When you click directly on the workbook title, you should see the sharing options including "Share as Template" that lets you create a public link others can copy to their workspace.
