I’m having a hard time getting the targeting right for a table I’m building. I want to find contacts at specific government labor/employment agencies, but I keep ending up with government employees at any agency in the state. For example, I only want employees at labor/employment divisions, but I keep getting employees at Transportation, Water & Power, etc. Is there a way to filter these a little better? Would using the exclusion field help?
👋 Hey there! Our support team has got your message - we'll be back in touch within 24 hours (often sooner!). If you haven't already, please include the URL of your table in this thread so that we can help you as quickly as possible!
Hey there Taylor thanks for reaching out, what exactly are the filters that you are currently using for this search? You can try entering filter to include and exclude specific industries that you see repeatedly coming up in the results, along with including/excluding keywords as well.
I used a list of websites and company names under Companies using the comma-separated list. I tried including keywords, but the search results didn’t give me any of the keywords I entered
Hey there Taylor thanks for letting me know, can post a link to the table where you are working on this so I can take a look.
I didn’t end up building out the table because I didn’t want to use my credits. I just saw the contacts in the preview section and knew this wasn’t correct
Have you tried excluding any of the additional industries that popup or did it not make a difference here either.
We haven't heard back from you in a bit, so we're going to go ahead and close things out here - feel free to let us know if you still need something!
Thanks! We've reopened this thread. You can continue to add more detail directly in this thread.
I did try to exclude some keywords, but then more incorrect companies and departments kept being added instead
Hey Taylor! Thanks for reaching out. Happy to help✨. A strategy you can employ to narrow down your search is using description keywords (see example in screenshot below) in addition to a filter for "government administration" in the industry selection. You can also exclude words like "initiative" or "non-profit" if these pull in organizations that do not fit your criteria. This will help to limit the search. Once imported, you can also use AI (Chat GPT: Generate Text) to check the description field and determine if it's government agency or not based on the criteria you provide as an additional layer (if needed). Here's a quick guide for prompting AI: https://www.clay.com/university/lesson/prompt-engineering-crash-course-clay-101 Let me know if this helps! https://downloads.intercomcdn.com/i/o/w28k1kwz/1215463307/4ad551899b51badcd17295d216cf/CleanShot+2024-10-14+at+16_51_49%402x.png?expires=1728923400&signature=0da1273d576f9ee990552ac3c036e226351b08948a5880f3fca4d59b725aceb6&req=dSImE814noJfXvMW1HO4zQmoP7jWJB0DVlWm%2BhHHTKgqLuwvCP9pvKdGsIlY%0ACWPt%0A
The problem is I’m getting the wrong kinds of government agencies
I want Labor and Employment agencies only
But I end up with Transportation, Water & Power, Agriculture, etc.
I thought including Labor and Employment as search keywords would be enough, but it doesn’t seem to work
Hey Taylor. Thanks for the reply! Totally hear you. This is due to the limitations with the industry category selection and keyword filtering. For context, adding related description keywords does help with narrowing the search but if there are other agency types that have those keywords, they will also be included in the search results returned. A workaround for this is filtering the results further after importing into a table with AI. You can prompt Claygent to visit the agency website to determine if it's a government employment/labor agency or use Chat GPT to read the description for each company and determine if it's an employment agency or not. Once that is done, you can filter your table to show the results that are not a match and delete them. I made a quick recording showing an example prompt I set up for this: https://share.cleanshot.com/RST0TK2V Also sharing a resource for using the write to other table integration (mentioned in the video): https://www.loom.com/share/d46fd74ae9004d229142a2474ac61866?sid=440fafc1-5d4c-4ed4-bebe-449748573397 Also made a template version of the table (with the prompt in the video) you can add and test in your workspace here: https://app.clay.com/shared-table/share_m4Vwx9Q3ZWWu Let me know if this helps!
