Is it possible to use the Exa Integration in Clay to return phone numbers? Im looking at the HTTP API enrichment to “perform search” but it doesn’t seem like it’s able to get me phone numbers. However in Exas UI, when I’m logged in, it has options to generate a clean list of phone numbers for contacts/companies….although it looks like Clays HTTP integration isn’t able to access this part.
You can use our HTTP API feature to connect to any tool you have API access to, including Exa. [1] If Exa's UI shows phone number options that aren't accessible through their standard search API, you'd need to check if Exa has separate API endpoints for phone number retrieval.
Would you like me to walk you through setting up one of these phone enrichment options instead?
No I’m trying to figure out Exa but I still don’t understand what’s missing
I’m routing you to our human team now so they can assist you further with the Exa integration.

Hey there isn’t really a relevant table
I haven’t set anything up
I just went to start adding an Exa enrichment but realized it’s not going to get me what I’m looking for
More of a general how-to use Exa for what I’m trying to do, is what I’m looking for
If it helps though, here’s a screenshot of the Clay - Exa HTTP API intergration, this is the only action in Clay it gives to use Exa and perform a company search (which isn’t what I’m looking for)
Hey Alexander,
Right now the built-in Exa integration in Clay is limited to that “perform a search” action (the /search endpoint you’re seeing in the HTTP template). It doesn’t expose the “clean list of phone numbers” feature you’re seeing inside Exa’s UI, so you won’t be able to pull phone numbers from Exa through that prebuilt action as-is.
Here are the two paths forward:
If Exa has a phone-specific API endpoint
You can still do this in Clay, but it would need to be a custom HTTP API enrichment that hits Exa’s phone/contacts endpoint (not /search).
If you can point me to the Exa API docs for the phone feature (or the endpoint name), I can help you format the request and map the response.
If that phone feature is UI-only (no public API)
Then Exa won’t be the right source inside Clay for phone numbers.
In that case, you’ll want to use Clay’s phone number enrichments/providers instead (so the output is actually a phone field, not just search results).
Let me know if you have more questions.
We haven't heard back from you here, so we're going to go ahead and close this thread out.
