hey team, clay table is giving time outs when i try running open ai api ai models for enrichments.
Timeouts when running OpenAI API models for enrichments in Clay are often caused by API rate limits or insufficient usage tiers.
For "Content generation" columns, your OpenAI API key needs at least 30,000 tokens per minute (TPM). For "Web research"/Claygent, you need a Tier 2 key with 450,000 TPM. Free or Tier 1 keys will not support these requirements and can cause slowdowns or timeouts [1].
Check your API key and usage tier in your OpenAI dashboard. If you see warnings or slow performance, consider upgrading your OpenAI API plan to a higher tier .
Large-scale runs or heavy prompts can also trigger rate limits. Try breaking up large jobs into smaller batches and monitor which columns are most affected .
If you need further help, you can ask to speak to a human.
Did that answer your question?
yes i'm on tier 2, please check
Even on Tier 2, timeouts can occur if your API key does not meet the required token per minute (TPM) for the specific enrichment type. For "Content generation" columns, you need at least 30,000 TPM, and for "Web research"/Claygent, you need 450,000 TPM. Double-check your API key’s actual limits in your OpenAI dashboard to ensure they match these requirements.
Other factors that can cause timeouts include:
Large-scale runs or heavy prompts exceeding rate limits per row or column.
Network instability or temporary backend issues.
Columns with heavier prompts or newer integrations may be more prone to rate limits.
To troubleshoot:
Monitor which columns are affected and try breaking large jobs into smaller batches.
For queued or stuck enrichments, click the column header, hover over the Run column field, and select "Force" to jump start the run.
For persistent delays, ensure your prompts are optimized and your network connection is stable.
If the issue continues after these checks, you can ask to speak to a human for further assistance. [1]

hi team, any update on this
Hey Ajay - thank you for reaching out. I took a look at your table, and it seems the reason why some of your "Company Domain" cells weren't running was because of a missing input from the "Scrape Seller Page" column. I went ahead and re-ran one of the cells, and it seems to be working. Does this make sense?
yes thank you
