I'm using my own Anthropic Claude Sonnet 4.5 API key, but I still get rate-limited by Clay. Am I not supposed to be able to use my own API key without the 8192-token limit?
The 8192-token limit applies even when using your own Anthropic API key. This is Clay's default maximum output token setting, not an API tier limitation. [1]
You can increase this limit by editing your AI column and adjusting the "Output Length" parameter beyond the default 256 tokens (maximum 4096 for this integration).
The rate limiting you're experiencing is likely due to your Anthropic API tier. Lower tiers require processing smaller batches (around 50 rows at a time). Check your API limits at https://console.anthropic.com/settings/limits.

If you still need help with the token limit or rate-limiting issue, I’m here to assist. Would you like to provide more details about what you’re trying to achieve or any other challenges you’re facing?
Yes, you can set a custom value in the "Maximum Output Length (in tokens)" field. The Claude integration allows you to specify any value up to 4096 tokens maximum, with 256 as the default. [1]
Simply enter your desired token limit in that text field - this will override the default 8192-token limit you encountered earlier.
Did that answer your question?
4096 is not much at all, cant I get higher than this?
For larger outputs, consider breaking tasks into smaller chunks or using external tools like Google Sheets for processing, then importing summarized data back into Clay.
