Troubleshooting Find People Issue with Companies Table

I am having troubles with “find people” and using an existing table as a list of companies to look within. I am suspecting but not sure it might have to do with the fact that I at times empty the Companies table which breaks something. Can someone take a look?

Yes, emptying your Companies table can break the Find People feature. Clay automatically links your Find Companies table to your Find People table, and this connection depends on the company data being present. When you use Find People with an existing table, Clay needs: ** Table Reference (your company data table) ** Company Identifier (LinkedIn URLs or domains) * The actual company records to search within If you empty the Companies table, the Find People feature loses its reference data and cannot function properly. The lookup column that connects the tables will also break since there's no company data to link to. To fix this, ensure your Companies table contains the necessary company data with LinkedIn URLs or domains before running Find People.

It wont run in any scenario atm

managed to fix this by deleting all my sources… but this is very stable

Hey there Fredrik thanks for reaching out, sorry for the delay here, since you deleted the sources can you give a bit more detail on what was occurring exactly?

I set up 5 sources to find people based on a list of companies in another table I deleted all the companies in the other table I added som new companies to the other table When I did so, I expected and had it working at one point to find new people automatically. It did not. As pointed out in the support article above, when you delete all records, the connection breaks. Would be great if it didnt 🙂 BUT the bigger problem was that I wasn’t able to restore the connection by selecting my table. It was greyed out. BUT BUT as I started deleted sources and adding new ones, they were also broken / wouldn’t stick and generate records. The only thing that worked was to delete all sources and start again. And then last bug: when selecting the table with companies in which to look for people in one source and then wanting to add another source I can’t select that table without refreshing the page first. Hope this is clear 🙂
