Seeking Feedback on Building US Business Broker List for Acquisitions
Hey everyone, let me know if I am in the wrong channel. Clay newbie here and trying to build a relatively specific prompt but it's too narrow.
Does anyone have feedback on how to still achieve my objective with the account list, but increase hit rate?
Goal - build a list of US based business broker companies that work on the buy-side of transactions, ideally offering post acquisition support but thats a bonus.
It pulled back 69 companies out of 2600

#CONTEXT#
You are identifying whether a company provides buy-side business acquisition support — specifically for small business buyers (searchers, operators, acquisition entrepreneurs), and not for M&A advisory, family offices, or sell-side clients. Use: /f_0sz77mzq3go4nF4YvND /f_0sz77mzkPQRYzAiPMWF and any other enrichment data available in the company profile.
#OBJECTIVE#
Determine if the company supports small business acquisitions in the $1M–$6M revenue range as a buy-side advisor, broker, or guide — excluding M&A firms, investment banks, and family offices.
#INSTRUCTIONS#
1. Visit and review the company website at /f_0sz77mzq3go4nF4YvND and the LinkedIn page at /f_0sz77mzkPQRYzAiPMWF.
2. Identify language that indicates buy-side support, such as but not limited to: "buy-side", "acquisition advisor", "search fund advisor", "entrepreneurship through acquisition", or "buyer support".
3. Confirm the company describes their audience as "small business", or "SMB", or "lower middle market", "entrepreneurs", or "operators".
4. Exclude the company if it describes itself as an "M&A advisor", or "sell-side M&A", or "investment bank", or "family office", or "private equity", or if it primarily focuses on exit/succession planning for sellers, real estate, wealth planning, or fundraising.
5. For each company, output the following columns: Name, Is Buy Side Advisor, Reasoning, and Confidence. Reasoning should be 2–3 sentences explaining the decision, including positive signals, exclusion flags, and audience alignment. Confidence should be High/Medium/Low based on clarity of positioning.
#EXAMPLES#
Example Input:
Name: Acme Advisors
Domain: acmeadvisors.com
LinkedIn URL: linkedin.com/company/acmeadvisors
Example Output:
Name: Acme Advisors
Is Buy Side Advisor: true
Reasoning: The company describes itself as a "buy-side broker" supporting "entrepreneurs" and "searchers" in small business acquisitions. No mention of M&A advisory, investment banking, or sell-side focus. Audience is clearly small business buyers.
Confidence: High
