Hi everyone! Is there a way to find out if a company owns an IT department? As far as I could find only Zoominfo (not native clay) provides this data but i’m sceptical about the quality. Alternative routes are checking for role names but my customer gave me 300+ role names in all kinds of different languages while Apollo requests are limited to 30 role filters per request.
Great question — you’re right, no single enrichment source gives a clean “yes/no” on whether a company has an IT department. ZoomInfo sometimes flags it, but often inconsistently. A practical workaround is exactly what you mentioned: role/title detection. We’ve helped clients set up multi-language role matching workflows in Clay (handling 300+ variations of IT roles) by building layered filters and splitting Apollo/LinkedIn lookups into batches, then merging results. It’s not out-of-the-box, but it gets you much better coverage without wasting credits. If you’d like, I can share how we’ve automated this inside Clay so you don’t have to manually manage all those role variations.
