Hi - I have a workbook which contains an accounts table and a contacts table. When I try to find more people at companies, I'm not able to select my people table inside that workbook as an exclusion list. Is this intentional or a bug? See screenshot where you can see the people table in my workbook and the (empty) selection
👋 Hey there! Our support team has got your message - we'll be back in touch within 24 hours (often sooner!). If you haven't already, please include the URL of your table in this thread so that we can help you as quickly as possible!
Hey Max! It looks like your workbook isn’t recognizing the "Master Table - People" as a Person Table. You can confirm this by checking the icon next to the table name at the bottom of the screen, as shown in the image I’ve included. If the data in "Master Table - People" was uploaded from a CSV, try creating a new table within the same workbook and upload the CSV again, but this time as a People Table. Once you've done that, refresh and try again. Here's a quick video that walks you through the process! We haven't heard back from you in a bit, so we're going to go ahead and close things out here - feel free to let us know if you still need something!
Hi Owen C., thank you so much for your response. I am having the same issue and cannot figure out how to create a people exclusion list (Garima K.). I am uploading my list by clicking "upload people via csv" but once it's uploaded, it's still marked as a "custom list" instead of a "people list". What do I need to do make sure Clay recognizes it as a people list?
Found a workaround to get it recognized as a people table by first creating a blank people table and then importing into the people table. however, when trying to select it as an exclusion list, I still can't find it. What am I doing wrong?
Do I need to add some kind of clay people identifier column?
Owen C. not sure if this is right but based on what I'm seeing + what Simon K. is detailing above it seems like there's a bug that makes it so that People Tables created after some date (or perhaps with some other characteristics?) are not visible in the exclusion drop down. For example, I just created a new people table outside of a workbook (thinking that maybe workbooks were the issue) called 'Test People Table' which I'm showing in the directory but is also invisible in the exclusion list.
The reason it seemed like it could have to do with table creation date is that if you look at the attached screenshot which shows a directory that I've had for a while and which contains 4 people tables, the only one that is visible (on the right) is also the oldest table. N of 1 but kinda seems like tables after some date are not being seen
Hey Max and Simon! Thank you for the details here! It looks like we've got a bug on our hands - I've escalated this over to our engineering team and we'll let you know as soon as we know more!
Hey there Max thanks for reaching out, jumping in for Owen, the team is still looking into this issue at the moment thank you for your patience as we wait to hear back.
Thanks LuisArturo. This is a surprisingly big blocker. We have done a lot of outreach in the past through hubspot. We can't use Clay right now because we can't determine who we already had in our system and who is net new. Right now we're creating lists in clay, paying for enrichment and AI email intro and then importing them into Hubspot only to find out we already had most contacts in our system.
Hey Max, wanted to update you that our team is still looking into this issue and we will keep you updated as it is fixed. In the meantime, a workaround you can use here to ensure you're not importing duplicate leads into your Hubspot is the Hubspot Lookup Contactenrichment. This allows you to check if a contact exists in your Hubspot based on their email, full name, or phone number. This way if a contact has a match with your Hubspot they can be excluded from the rest of the actions in your table using conditional runs. Let me know if this helps!
Tanvi R. Thank you so much. Can you confirm that this is indeed only available on pro plans? So we'd have to upgrade from $350/mo to paying $800 to use this method? Also, will this cost additional credits? If we first have to pay 2.5x as much, and then pay extra credits for the enrichment, this wouldn't really make sense.
Hey there Max, yes the Hubspot Lookup Contact feature is available starting on the pro plan as are all of our CRM features. All of the CRM enrichments are completely free - they just require connecting your API key. So you will not need to pay extra credits to use the Lookup Contact enrichment! I know this is a pretty urgent need for your team, so I went ahead and gave you guys free access to all the CRM features in your workspace for the next month. This way you can try Hubspot Lookup Contact, as well as the Create and Update Contact/Companyenrichments to make exporting this data easier for you. Let me know if you have any questions on using these enrichments!
My apologies Max - I see you already upgraded to Pro so you have these features! Keep me posted on how the Lookup feature works for you - we're here to help!
Tanvi R. Really appreciate it. Just making sure, Max and I are both in this thread. We're part of different companies. I don't believe I am able to access the CRM features on our account. But this would be a great temporary fix. Would you be able to enable that for our account? digit-software.com?
Sure thing Simon, just enabled this in your workspace until 12/4/2024. Let me know if you need help setting this up!
Fantastic, thank you so much!
Hey Simon, great to hear from you! Thanks for following up here. Our team is still looking into this bug and have not resolved it yet. I just followed up with them again about this issue and will get back to you once I hear more. In the meantime, I've extended Hubspot access in your workspace for the next month so you can continue using the Hubspot Lookup Contact workaround.
Hey Simon, just checking is this issue still occurring for you? Our engineers aren't able to reproduce this on their end
Hey Simon, we've made a few updates to the exclude people function and it looks like this bug got resolved in the process. I just checked your workspace and see that all find people tables are appearing correctly. If you run into any issues with this, let us know!
That is amazing! Thank you so much for the update. We will check it again on our end.
Hi Max, thank you for reaching out. I am happy to report that this issue should now be solved. Thank you for your patience and let me know if there is anything else we can help you with!
Amazing, thank you so much!
Tanvi R. Stefano My colleague Garima K. is trying to utilize this feature again. We're looking to exclude an existing people list (first name, last name, email, company name, uploaded from hubspot) from our new search. Can Clay exclude people uploaded via csv based on their email? Or only based on their LinkedIn profile? Our list doesn't have LinkedIn profiles and it wouldn't make sense anyway, a lot of contacts in our target audience don't have LinkedIn profiles.
Hey there Max jumping in here, currently our Exclude feature only takes in LinkedIn URL. However, I can make a request to see if we can add another option exclude by.
Hey LuisArturo , it would be great if we can use the Exclude feature to exclude by email.
