Curious if any of you have played with the sequencing tool in Clay? I am about to start testing it, do you have to send those through clay or can you have clay create the first 4 emails then pull all of those to instantly? Not sure what the best flow is.
You have two options:
Option 1: Native Clay Sequencer (Beta)
Send sequences directly from Clay. You can create up to 4 emails per campaign and send them natively without using external tools. [1]
Option 2: Draft in Clay, Send via Instantly
Both flows work—choose based on whether you prefer managing campaigns in Clay or Instantly.
Did that explanation help with your sequencing question?
If you need any more help with using the sequencing tool or deciding on the best flow, I’m here to assist. Would you like to share more about what you’re trying to achieve with your email campaigns?
Can you also do up to four in clay with option 2?
You'd create the personalized copy for all 4 steps in Clay, then push those as custom variables to your Instantly campaign. Each step gets its own unique message, which helps with deliverability.
Did that answer your question about Option 2?

I dont want to use Twain too I just want to use clay sequencer
Perfect! With Clay Sequencer alone, you can create up to 4 emails per campaign directly in Clay—no Twain needed. [1]
Here's how it works:
Start in a table with your lead emails
Click Add column → Create Clay email campaign
Under Message sequence, draft your emails (up to 4 per campaign)
Use / within each message to access features like Clean variable (to reference lead data) and AI snippet (to generate copy automatically)
The sequencer runs entirely on Clay credits (0.03 credits per email sent), and you can build and launch personalized campaigns without leaving the platform. [2]
Does that explain how to use Clay Sequencer?
do i have to send it in clay once i use the sequencer or can I use instatly after that
No, you don't have to send from Clay Sequencer. You can draft your emails using Clay Sequencer, then push them to Instantly as custom variables. [1]
Here's how: Use Clay to generate your personalized email copy (subject lines and body text), then add an Instantly enrichment to push those leads to your Instantly campaign. Map your email content as custom variables (like {{subject_line}}, {{email_body}}), and they'll populate in your Instantly campaign automatically. [2] [3]
This lets you build sequences in Clay but send through Instantly. [4]
