There is an issue with templates. A template cannot use columns from a different source. The data must be added as a column in the table where the template will be applied. For example, when working in a people table sourced from a companies search, we cannot use the company name in a template unless we add it as a column first.
To use data from a different source in a template, you need to add that data as a column in your current table first. Templates and prompts can only reference columns that exist in the table where they’re applied. If you want to use, for example, a company name from a companies source in a people table, you’ll need to add a column for company name to your people table before referencing it in your template or prompt. There isn’t a way to directly reference columns from another table or source without first adding them as columns in your current table [1] [2] [3] .
Is that what you were looking for?
Yes but you should change it
Thanks for your feedback. Could you please share more details about what changes you'd like to see? I'm here to help.
Dynamic templates should pull data from other tables into templates. If I keep clean, separate tables, I do not want to duplicate columns that already exist elsewhere because it is not logical.
You can use the Lookup Rows feature to pull data from other tables into your current table. This lets you reference data from another table without duplicating columns. Just set up a lookup column in your table, configure it to fetch the needed data from the other table, and then use that column in your templates or prompts. This keeps your tables clean and avoids unnecessary duplication of data fields. [1] [2]
