are companies with no funding included in the under $1M filter for find companies? Seems like NO but want to confirm
The available documentation mentions that funding amount can be used as a parameter to refine search results in Find Companies, but it doesn't specify whether companies with no funding are included or excluded when using the "under $1M" filter. Could you test this by running a Find Companies search with the "under $1M" funding filter and checking if any results show companies with no funding data?
can you ask someone who might know the answer?
The documentation mentions that funding amount can be used as a parameter to refine search results in Find Companies, but it doesn't specify whether companies with no funding are included or excluded when using the "under $1M" filter. What specific results are you seeing when you run the "under $1M" funding filter - are you noticing companies that appear to have no funding data listed in your results?
can you please ask a person
Hey there Mathew thanks for reaching out, this is a great question let me check in with the team here about this, as testing on my end is not conclusive here
Thanks -- my sense is it removes companies where funding === "N/A"
From the testing I have done I am getting the same conclusion but still checking to verify
cool lmk
thank you
Any update here?
Hey Matthew! I believe your intuition is correct - when selecting any filters on the funding amount the logic automatically assumes companies with 0 funding are not included. Hope this helps!
Is it possible to separate "no funding" from 0 funding?
Almost always that is what I'm filtering for
Hey Mathew - For context on this, the filter works through working with data providers and scraping for funding information, so when no data is returned those results are excluded when the feature is used. If you are looking for companies that exclusively have no funding, I would recommend populating companies with similar profiles into a table and using a "Use AI" column to double check via web scraping if any funding has been had. Hope this helps!
Why not just add an option to the filter for "No data"?
That would be more accurate / cheaper / faster than creating a custom AI column to do it
and you already have the data
Especially when most people are looking for bootstrapped companies
Or at least add an exclude which would let you isolate the "No data" companies
Hey Matthew - I hear you and it is something we are thinking about. I've flagged this as a request for our features team! For now, I would recommend using common filters that fit the profile of the companies you are looking for like Size and member count.
Definitely doesn't solve the problem but i understand!
Thanks for flagging
