The max cost setting doesn't seem to be working when running sonnet API web searches. For example, if I set the max cost to .10, most runs go over - some almost double. Any idea why this could be? Thanks in advance
The max cost setting acts as a budget limit, but Claude Sonnet models can exceed it before being forced to finish early due to cost constraints. Recent updates to Claude Sonnet 3.7 have doubled the estimated token usage per Claygent run, making it more conservative but potentially causing higher costs.
For expensive models like Sonnet, use at least $0.10 as your max cost setting. [1] The system will attempt to complete the task within your budget, but complex prompts requiring more tokens may exceed the limit before termination - as shown by your "Forced To Finish Early Because Of Cost" flag.
Consider increasing your max cost setting to $0.20-0.30 for Sonnet models to accommodate their higher token requirements.

So basically it doesn't work?
