I think the documentation for custom signals is outdated but at risk of this being asked before. Trying to create a custom signal for a company list but somehow can't seem to link a custom signal to a company list (like you can for templated signals). The documentation showing how to do it doesn't reflect the current UI. Any tips?
You're right that the UI has evolved! For custom signals, you can create them in two ways:
In a workbook: Click + Add → Custom signal [1]
In a table: Click Actions → Import → Custom signal
The key difference from templated signals is that custom signals require you to configure the source and monitoring parameters yourself, rather than having pre-built options.
Which method are you trying - creating from a workbook or from within a table? And what specific step is giving you trouble?
From a table but it doesn't show import nor custom signal. It does show Actions -> Signals but not custom
Got it - the UI path has changed. In tables, custom signals are now accessed through Actions → Signals (not Import). Once you click on Signals, you should see options for both templated signals and custom signals. [1]
Are you seeing the Signals menu when you click Actions → Signals, and if so, what options appear there?
I see the issue - you're looking at the templated signals menu. The custom signal option isn't in that list because it's accessed differently.
From your table, try this path: Actions → Import → Custom signal instead of going through the Signals menu. [1]
The Signals menu you're seeing only shows the pre-built templated signals (job changes, promotions, etc.). Custom signals are created through the Import flow, not the Signals flow.
Can you check if you see "Custom signal" when you go Actions → Import?
I see the confusion - the UI has changed since the documentation was written. You're right that there's no Import option in the Actions panel you're showing.
For custom signals in tables, you'll need to create them from a workbook instead. Go to your workbook view and click + Add → Custom signal. [1]
The table-level custom signal creation through Actions → Import appears to have been removed or relocated in recent UI updates.
Are you able to access the workbook view to try creating the custom signal from there?
You need to use "write to table" to connect your custom signal to your company list. From your signal table ("Event: Find with a Google Search Table"), click Actions → Send table data and select your company list table ("GPs - North America & Europe") as the destination. [1]
Make sure to include the company identifier (name or domain) in the data you're sending so it can properly link to your existing companies. [2] This will write the signal results directly into your main company table instead of keeping them separate.
