i am trying to find Total Funding Amount (USD). I do not want to use Crunchbase because 15 credits per row is Bonkerstown, USA. I am looking at a Total Funding waterfall using Harmonic/Dealroom. Data looks good, but how do I know what currency it is?
To determine the currency used for Total Funding Amount data, use the "Company Funding Currency" data point. This field specifies the currency in which a company has raised its funding, providing the financial context for the Total Funding Amount. Make sure to include this column in your data extraction or table to clearly identify the currency for each record [1] [2] [3] .

good call avoiding Crunchbase it’s pricey for scale. Harmonic and Dealroom usually return funding data in USD by default, even if the source currency differs. You can double-check by adding a small AI column or note parser to detect and normalize the currency symbol in the text if you want to be sure. I can show you how to set that up if you’d like.
To confirm the currency for Total Funding Amount data, you can add a column in your Clay table and use the "Use AI" feature. Select "Add column" → "Use AI," then write a prompt instructing the AI to detect and extract the currency symbol or code from your funding data. You can define the output as a text or currency field. This will help you identify and normalize the currency for each row, ensuring consistency across your dataset [1] [2]. If you need more advanced parsing, you can use the AI formula generator to create a formula that scans the funding amount text for currency symbols and standardizes them [3].
