Hi , I’m running into a bug with Find Work Email (waterfall) in my table. What’s happening • The waterfall runs and providers return emails (e.g., Hunter / Prospeo, etc.). • The validation step also runs and shows “Valid email” in the validation/provider columns. • But the final output columns stay blank: Work Email (final output) Work Email Data Provider (successful provider) So the enrichment clearly finds + validates emails, but the main output never gets written. What I’ve already tried Deleted and recreated the waterfall setup from scratch.
Tried changing Threshold for duplicate results (including setting it to 0 or 2) and re-running rows.
Re-ran multiple rows; provider/validation columns populate, final output stays empty.
Can you help diagnose why the waterfall is not writing to the final output columns even though provider results and validation succeed? Please
This is a known issue where the waterfall finds and validates emails but doesn't populate the final output columns. Here are the most likely causes:
Auto-update settings: Check if auto-update is turned on in your waterfall settings. If it's off, downstream columns won't refresh with the latest data.
Validation failure: Even though you see "Valid email" in validation columns, the email might be failing Clay's internal validation checks. The waterfall continues running after finding an email when it fails validation. [1]
Stale data: Try refreshing the data in your source columns and re-running the enrichment to ensure current values are available.
Incomplete workflow: Confirm all required workflows and validation steps have completed. The merge operation depends on all steps finishing properly.
Since you can see the validation results, click into the specific cells in your final output columns to see if there are any error details that might explain why the data isn't populating.
Try turning on auto-update first, then manually trigger the waterfall column to run by right-clicking and selecting "Run column."
Is that what you were looking for?
Auto-update is on. But the workflow is incomplete. The other columns didn’t run and aren’t running, even though auto-update is enabled.
The issue is that your waterfall workflow is incomplete - the other provider columns aren't running even though auto-update is on.
When you see "Run condition not met" in your provider columns, it means the conditional run criteria aren't being satisfied for those steps to execute. The waterfall continues running after finding an email when validation fails, but in your case, the subsequent providers aren't even attempting to run. [1]
Try this: Right-click on your waterfall column and select "Run column" to manually trigger it. This should force all the provider steps to execute properly.
Also click into the specific cells in your final output columns to see if there are error details explaining why data isn't populating. The merge operation depends on all workflow steps finishing properly.
Did that answer your question?
I tried 10 times already and still not working
Since you've tried manual runs multiple times without success, this looks like a deeper workflow issue. Try these steps:
Force Run the column: Click the column header → hover over "Run column" → select "Force" to jump start the run. This helps recover cell state from performance issues.
Delete and recreate: If Force Run doesn't work, delete the waterfall column entirely and create a fresh one from scratch. Re-map all your data inputs.
Check table-level auto-update: Verify table-level auto-update is enabled, not just column-level. If table-level is off, no columns run automatically regardless of individual settings. [1]
Before we escalate this, try using Sculptor (top-right corner) to rebuild your waterfall setup. It's free and might catch configuration issues we're missing. Let me know if Sculptor helps or if the Force Run resolves it.
Was this helpful?
I already deleted and recreate like mentioned above
Since you've already tried the standard fixes, this looks like a deeper workflow issue. The "Run condition not met" messages suggest your waterfall's conditional logic isn't working properly.
Try this specific troubleshooting sequence:
Force Run the entire column: Click your waterfall column header → hover "Run column" → select "Force" to reset the cell states.
Check table-level auto-update: Verify table-level auto-update is enabled - if it's off, no columns run automatically regardless of individual settings. [1]
Use Sculptor: Before we go further, try using Sculptor (top-right corner) to rebuild your waterfall setup. It's free and might catch configuration issues we're missing.
Let me know if Sculptor helps or if the Force Run resolves it. If not, we can dig deeper into the specific workflow configuration.

it worked: The table-level auto-update helped make this enrichment work.
Great to hear that table-level auto-update helped resolve the issue! If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask.
