Hey all! Anyone have experience with using Clay > Gong Flow actions? I have a couple of data points (former company name and an AI summary of some Swarm connections) and I want to push them into the body of a manual Gong Flow so reps can pick up and update before sending, but whatever I try doesn't seem to make it into the Gong Flow. I tried overriding "Flow instance description" but can't seem to find where that shows up in Gong. I've also tried "Override for step 1 subject line" but that doesn't seem to come through either. Am I missing something?
To push data points like former job title and an AI summary of Swarm connections into a Gong Flow using Clay, use the "Add Prospect to Flow" action under Gong Engage. When mapping fields, ensure you are assigning your data points to the appropriate fields that Gong expects for personalization—typically, this involves mapping custom variables or fields that are referenced in your Gong Flow templates. The "Flow instance description" and "Override for step 1 subject line" may not appear in Gong if those fields are not surfaced in the manual Flow or are not referenced in the template. For best results, map your data to custom variables or fields that are actually used in the body of the Flow steps, and confirm that your Gong Flow template is set up to display those variables. This allows for per-prospect customization at scale within your campaigns. [1] [2]

Thanks. Can you please tell me how I can map my data to custom variables in Gong? How do I format the variable within Gong to receive the data from Clay?
To map data from Clay to custom variables in Gong, use the "Add enrichment" option in your Clay table and select a Gong action. When configuring the action, assign your Clay columns to the fields Gong expects—these should correspond to custom variables referenced in your Gong Flow templates. Ensure your Gong Flow template includes placeholders for these variables so the data appears as intended when the Flow is triggered. This setup allows your mapped data to populate the correct spots in Gong for reps to review and update before sending [1] [2].
