Hi everyone, I have a quick question regarding AI. Recently I’ve been trying to use AI to help me qualify the companies that I found if they fit with my ICP or not. While I’m doing that I’ve noticed that lots of the results I’m getting are quite random even though I did specify in the outcome that I would like to receive a yes, no or uncertain. as you can tell from the screen shot sometimes it gave me random stuff. How can we deal with this, how can I fix this problem? I would love to hear your thoughts.
Hey Muhammed K. You can easily fix this by tightening your AI prompt and setting clear constraints in Clay. In your GPT column edit the prompt to say: Based on the company description return only one of these exact words yes no or UNCERTAIN do not include any other text Then scroll down and enable constrain output or format as single value if available this makes Clay’s AI stick strictly to those options and prevents random outputs.
Hey! That’s a common issue when AI outputs aren’t well-structured. Try rephrasing your prompt to explicitly force structured output for example:
“Answer only with one of these: Yes, No, or Uncertain. No explanation.” You can also use Clay’s “AI Output Schema” (under advanced settings) to restrict answers to predefined options. That usually fixes random responses.
I have tried this by telling the AI to give me a restricted answer inside of the prompt itself but it didn’t work to be honest. how can I use the AI Output Schema to make the AI select between YES or NO?
