Maximize Email Outreach: Tips for Exporting Prospect Lists Effectively
Quick tip for anyone exporting prospect lists from Ocean, Apollo, pandamatch, etc: You're probably dealing with this annoying problem - you pay for a list of contacts but can only actually reach like 70% of them because email finders suck at finding everyone's email. I just went through this. Exported 3,600 people from Ocean.io for $130 (just LinkedIn URLs, no emails), but realistically I knew I'd only be able to email maybe 2,500 of them after running through waterfall enrichments. Super frustrating when you're paying per contact but can't actually contact a third of what you bought. Here's what I figured out in Clay to fix this: After you build your first outreach table, set up a conditional send to another table that only runs when "Work Email" is empty. This automatically moves all the people without emails to a separate table. Then on that new table, use "Find Contacts at Company" enrichment. Set it to look for the same companies but exclude the original people you already have. Add the next level of seniority (if you were targeting Founders, throw in CEOs or COOs), limit to 1 per company, and hit add people. Copy all your waterfall templates, Claygent tasks, GPT stuff - whatever you had set up on the first table. You can even do this 2-3 times if you want to go deeper into each company. This way you get total coverage of companies you're trying to reach. Maybe not the perfect contact from the company, but the second best! Still using all 3,600 credits you exported ๐ Hope this helps, maybe many of you are doing this. But I was struggling for a while and wanted to share with new folks who might be on my place!
