Best Practices for Dedupe and Lookup in Data Tables

when picking which column to dedupe from not having to push it out a a column to refer to it. Same this for lookup multiple rows in another table. A column should be able to be referred to without necessarily being visible in the columns on the table. Not sure if this makes sense
