Hey everyone , I'm working on Assignment 2 and trying to add a company signal to my People Audience in Clay. However, when I open Company Signals, options like News & Fundraising, New Hire, and Web Intent show an Upgrade prompt. Is this normal with the cohort access, or should these features be fully available as part of the cohort? Just wanted to check if I'm missing something or if there's a specific way to access them. Thanks!
Those signal types (Web Intent, New Hire, News & Fundraising, Job Posting) are the standard company signal types available in Clay. They’re used to monitor companies for events like hiring changes, funding/news, job postings, or website visits. [2]
The documentation doesn’t specify any cohort‑specific access rules for these signals. So if you’re seeing an Upgrade prompt, that detail isn’t covered in the cohort materials I have access to.
If you want, you can also share which cohort assignment you’re on and I can help clarify what the assignment expects you to do with signals.
Is that what you were looking for?
Hey Nikesh, this usually happens if the cohort workspace credits haven't applied yet or if you're on a free plan. Check the cohort's pinned messages for an invite link or promo code, and if that doesn't fix it, tag the community admins to grant you access.
This is expected during the cohort.
Cohort workspaces receive 500 starter credits after the kickoff call.
During the cohort, you also get temporary access to the features needed to complete assignments, even if your trial later moves to a Free plan.
So if you’re seeing Upgrade prompts on signals, it usually means the workspace hasn’t received the cohort credits yet or they haven’t been applied to the workspace you’re using.
Once the credits are available, you should be able to use the signals required for the assignments as long as you still have credits remaining.
Did that answer your question?
If you still need help understanding the signal access or cohort workspace setup, I’m here to help. Would you like to share more about what you’re seeing or which assignment step you’re trying to complete?
Thanks for clarifying. I'm part of the Outbound Orchestration Foundations Cohort 2 and currently working on Assignment 2. However, I'm still seeing Upgrade prompts when trying to access company signals in Clay. Could you please check whether the cohort credits and temporary feature access have been applied to my workspace and help resolve this? I'd like to complete the signal part of the assignment without having to upgrade my plan separately. Please let me know if you need any additional details. Thanks!
You don’t need a paid plan to complete cohort assignments. During an active cohort, your workspace is enabled with Pro plan features, and cohort credits are issued once per workspace automatically the week before the cohort starts. [1]
If you’re still seeing “Upgrade” prompts, it usually means one of these:
The cohort credits haven’t been issued yet to that workspace.
The credits were already used by someone in the workspace (they’re shared per workspace, not per user).
You can quickly check this by going to Settings → Usage and seeing if your workspace has any credits available.
If the credits truly haven’t appeared yet, the next step is to ask the cohort admins in the cohort Slack channel to confirm whether the workspace credits have been issued for your cohort.
Did that clarify things?
Hey team, I checked Settings → Usage, and my workspace shows 5200 credits available. However, when I try to add company signals like New Hire, News & Fundraising, and Web Intent, Clay still prompts me to upgrade. I’m part of Outbound Orchestration Foundations Cohort 2, and my understanding is that cohort participants should have temporary Pro access to the features needed for assignments. Could someone please check whether the cohort access and required signal features have been enabled for my workspace, and help get this resolved? Thanks!
What you’re seeing is expected behavior.
Most Signals (including New Hire, News & Fundraising, Job Posting, and Web Intent) are only available on paid plans.
When a workspace is on a free or trial plan, the UI shows an Upgrade prompt for those signal types.
Even if your workspace has credits available, the signal feature itself can still be gated by the plan level. Credits are used when signals run, but the feature access is controlled by the plan.
So the prompt you’re seeing is normal if the workspace isn’t on a paid plan that includes Signals.

If you still need help resolving the signal access issue, I’m here to help. Would you like to share more about the exact assignment step or what appears after you select a signal?
Hey Covington D. Akash R., could I please get some help with this? I'm part of Outbound Orchestration Foundations Cohort 2 and am trying to build a list in Clay using features like Add Company Signals and Find New Hires. However, I'm seeing an upgrade prompt when I try to access them. I checked with Clay Support, and they explained that these signals are generally available on paid plans, even when credits are available. I understand that cohort participants may have access to the features needed for assignments, so I just wanted to check whether these are included in our cohort access or if there's a particular step I need to follow. I'd really appreciate your guidance on how I can access these features. Thanks so much!
Thanks for the detailed explanation — that helps a lot.
From the cohort documentation, the only confirmed cohort benefit is credits issued once per workspace after the kickoff call. There’s no documentation that cohort access automatically unlocks specific paid features like Signals. [1]
So if you’re still seeing the Upgrade prompt on Company Signals, it likely means that feature access hasn’t been enabled for your workspace yet.
In cases where Pro features are required for assignments, temporary Pro access can be requested through this form:
Since you’re in the Outbound Orchestration Foundations cohort, the best next step is to post this in your private cohort Slack channel and ask the cohort admins if Signals access has been enabled for your cohort workspace. They can confirm whether it’s expected to be available for Assignment 2.
