Hi Clay friends! 👋 I am looking for some advice on the following issues I keep running into:
We are a SaaS company and our ideal customers are mid-to-large size Ecommerce/DTC companies. So I've been trying to prospect using Clay to create niche based lists (Cosmetics, Fashion, etc.) for targeted outbound.
- 1.
Whenever I am in the CPJ-source step in Clay and I am using the filters (industry, country, etc) I usually end up with very few companies in the results. It seems like when I use many filters to make sure that the companies are high-fit - the number of companies found becomes very low.
- 2.
Same thing with finding people. Whenever I use many filters to narrow down to our ICP - the final results (people found) becomes very low.
- 3.
I am finding many companies but 0 people at those companies (when using find people at these companies). What to do here? should I use people enrichment at those companies instead of CPJ search?
(Filters I am using are - industry, company size, annual revenue, description keywords, country) I've attached screenshots.
4. When I am filtering with industry (Cosmetics) - I am getting companies that sell cosmetics products (which is what we want) but also companies like 'Spa centers' also list themselves under 'Cosmetics' on LinkedIn. So a lot of companies that we don't want are getting into the list. How to best solve it? It seems like there's no way to do that using the default filters and only way is to post-process the list with AI and stuff?
5. In people search - we're looking for senior managers and leaders in Customer Support at those companies. Best way I found is to use Job titles to include (as learned in clay cohort). But when I enter job title keywords - I am getting the desired people but also getting a lot of irrelevant people. How to solve this issue? or does it also have to be done using AI later?
So I am wondering - is it that I am doing something wrong? or is it that it's hard to find many companies/people if you want to niche down or build very targeted lists in Clay?
Is it impossible to find very high-fit companies/people without using AI to post-process or qualify?
Thanks!
