Hello, I'm trying to figure out how to find the earliest employees at various startups. Is there any way to compare employee start date and end date to the company founded date and filter for all of the employees that were at the company within 2 years of the company founded date? Thank you!
To find employees who joined within 2 years of a company's founding, you'll need to use both the "Company Start Date" (or "Founded Date"/"Founded Year") and "Contact Employment Start & End Date" data points in Clay. You can create a table with these data points and then use a formula column to calculate the difference between each employee's start date and the company's founding date. Then apply a filter to show only employees whose start date is within 2 years of the founding date. This approach lets you identify early employees by comparing their employment timeline with the company's establishment date. You can further refine your results by adding additional filters as needed.
Is there a better way to go about finding the earliest employees at startups
Yes, there are more advanced methods to identify early startup employees in Clay: 1. Use multiple founding date data points for accuracy - Clay offers "Company Start Date," "Founded Date," "Founded Year," and "Company Year Founded" from various data providers like Apollo.io, PDL, and ZoomInfo. 2. Create a formula column to calculate the time difference between employment start dates and company founding, then filter for employees who joined within your target timeframe (e.g., first 2 years). 3. Leverage linked tables to pull company attributes into your people data, allowing you to analyze early employees alongside company metrics like funding rounds or growth stages. This approach gives you a more comprehensive view of early employees while maintaining data accuracy.
Hi Edgar, this sounds like a straightforward task which you should be able to achieve in Clay. I just recorded this quick video to explain how you can address this: https://www.loom.com/share/2c56ebdc6fea4c2c9fcd14102f14f07d?sid=17758712-d636-4587-b4a9-2ab421e78e14 I hope this was helpful. If there's anything else I can assist you with, please let me know!
Thank you so much Bruno!! Apologies for the mixup in the other thread
