Optimizing Auto-Update for Email Lookup on No Results Returned

·
·

hey Clay team! I've got a question around filtering when there are no results. So when I filter out my client's Do Not Contact list, I use "Lookup single row in other table" with their DNC list. Once I get back "No Record Found", aka the lookup returns no results, then I want to start spending credits to get their email data. But not before. Is there any way I can make this auto-update as soon as "No Record Found" is returned? Right now, the only conditional I can use on the email data column is !{{Lookup Single Row in Other Table}} and this conditional is if the column has returned the result "No Record Found" OR if that lookup never ran / is queued. So if I run this column before the Lookup column is finished, I would spend email credits on ALL rows where the current result is "Queued" or "Missing Input" or "Error" because these are no results aka !{{Lookup Single Row in Other Table}}. This isn't what I need. I only need email credits once I know the lookup has come back negative / no results found. Right now, I have to babysit this 6k+ column as it loads BEFORE I can start looking up email addresses. This one ability would save me seriously like 5+ hours/wk. I recorded this short loom for context, but the above is the TLDW: https://www.loom.com/share/77d3ed3db1594a89a835ece0b8a84ccd?sid=7fe4c86a-9b00-4056-8aac-fddf1b677222

You can use this formula in run conditions of HTTP API and it will only run for rows where record is not found video

!{{Lookup Single Row in Other Table}}?.record

so I need to use an HTTP API version of the lookup in order to get this formula to work? Muhammad S.

No, In the video you were using lookup single row enrichment to lookup a record in other table.

You can use this formula in any enrichment as a run condition to control the way how it runs

yeah that makes sense. so I guess the lookup enrichment still has the same records underneath the enrichment

Thank you Muhammad! Hello Catherine, were you able to setup the desired workflow with the lookup row enrichment? If not, let me know and I can take a look in your tables.
