Is it possible for a column in one table to reference the values in a column in another table? Ideally I'd like the values in the new table to update in real time as the values update in the other table
👋 Hey there! Our support team has got your message - we'll be back in touch within 24 hours (often sooner!). If you haven't already, please include the URL of your table in this thread so that we can help you as quickly as possible!
Hey, thanks for reaching out! 😊 You can definitely use our Lookup feature. Just keep in mind that if you update values in the other table, you’ll need to update the lookup in this table as well to pull in the latest information. Here’s a video with more details on how to use Lookup: https://www.loom.com/share/ad767e3be9914d19a2f6647efe4dfa85?sid=c8b78c32-9bc1-4501-8124-d6c70d2218cf. Let me know if you need any further help! 👍
Thanks, Bo (.. Confirming that this can’t update in realtime as the main column changes? Maybe I’m trying to do this wrong. Here’s my use case:
I have an active list in HubSpot of all of our customer, prospect, and partner companies.
I run campaigns out of Clay that currently don’t have a way to exclude companies on that list
What’s the best way to exclude that list from a Clay table? I have a table pulling the list into Clay, and it adds a new row anytime a new company becomes a customer, prospect, or partner.
I was thinking of using a checkbox column in my campaign tables that checks to see if a company exists on the table that pulls the list from HubSpot. How can I achieve that end goal more elegantly in Clay?
We haven't heard back from you in a bit, so we're going to go ahead and close things out here - feel free to let us know if you still need something!
Hey Josh! Thanks for reaching out. Happy to help. To clarify, the Lookup feature doesn't update on a schedule and has to be manually triggered to refresh existing rows. However, it can be set to auto-run for new records that are imported into your campaign tables (with auto-update enabled). Another workaround for this is running Hubspot Lookup (see screenshot below) to check for a matching company directly in your Hubspot CRM. You can use the company domain or ID to check for a matching record and use a property tag to set up conditional formulas (see guide here for creating formulas here: https://www.clay.com/learn/how-to-use-ai-formulas) that prevent that record from being added to your campaign. With this method, you won't need to switch to a different table and can run the Lookup to your CRM in the campaign table.
