add lead to campaign for SL not working as expected
There could be a few reasons why adding a lead to a campaign isn't working as expected: 1. Browser cache issue: Try performing a hard refresh in your browser: • Mac: Cmd + Shift + R (Chrome/Firefox) or Cmd + Option + R (Safari) • PC: Ctrl + F5 (Chrome, Firefox, Edge) 2. Duplicate leads: The system might be preventing duplicates. Check if the lead already exists in the campaign or workspace. 3. API limitations: Some integrations have specific requirements. For example, with Instantly, custom variables must be pre-added to the campaign via an import. If these steps don't resolve the issue, please provide more details about the specific problem you're encountering. If needed, you can request human assistance by clicking on "Talk to a person" for further support.
Hey there, all those seem to be duplicates. I turned "Allow Duplicates Across Campaigns" on for testing purposes and it works (btw, toggled off again!):
If there's anything else I can assist you with, please let me know! 😊 Have a great Friday, Daniel
I don't want duplicate leads across campaigns though that's the issue - it's affecting the original lead that's in a different campaign and it shouldn't
Hey Enoch, sorry, the video did not load for me previously in the chat so I missed all the context. Make sense. Let me check with the the team but I'd be surprised if this is default behaviour. Do you see the same if you create a custom connection through the HTTP API column with the Add Lead endpoint?
good question! havent had time to try
Enoch - Sorry for this, it looks like we've got a bug on our hands. I've escalated this to our engineering team to help look into it. We'll follow up here as soon as we know more! In the meantime, feel free to try the custom API call to Smartlead to see if this is happening as well.
Hey Enoch, At the moment we don't have any updates, but I just asked the team if they have anything new to share. We'll get back to you as soon as we hear from them.
Hey, I heard back from the team. Since this action isn’t meant to update leads, the message you’re seeing is correct. There’s a separate “update lead” action for that. If there’s a chance the lead is already in the campaign, the best practice is to run a lookup first and then use the "update lead in Campaign" to update it.
right it's not meant to update leads, but we're saying that it still does
Got it. In this case, to prevent updating existing leads, you'll need to: 1. Use "Lookup" first to check if leads already exist in your system 2. Then use "Add lead" only for new contacts 3. Add a Formula to the "Add Lead" action that prevents it from running when lookup values exist You can learn more about setting up these conditional formulas at: https://www.clay.com/university/lesson/how-to-use-ai-formulas
