Hi - If a company has a strict DMARC policy blocking all external emails, can marketing emails still reach recipients outside the company?
Dmarc doesn鈥檛 block external emails coming in. it prevents email compromise and spoofing. so for proper inbox placement, you need to worry about your domain health/IP reputation
yeah, but if the policy is set to "reject" (p=reject), emails that fail authentication could be rejected, even if they are legitimate external emails (like marketing emails).
I don鈥檛 think that鈥檚 what dmarc does. but even if you鈥檙e correct, why won鈥檛 you take an extra 15-30 minutes to set your records straight?
Kent, as a thought, if you're having issues with being rejected - I started using DMARCLY to track my delivery domains, and it has a great UX for visualizing aggregate reports and helping you identify the source of your problems. They also have a full suite of verification tools to help with the process. Last thought - if you're targeting Enterprise clients, you may need to invest the extra time and energy to establish an MTA-STS policy for each domain as well; it is not quick or necessarily cheap, as it requires you to host each domain you are using to allow you to add an HTTPS certificate, but worth it in my experience so far. I'm using Perplexity to codify the knowledge as I go - feel free to have a 馃憖 - https://www.perplexity.ai/page/outbound-email-infrastructure-DXw1vhV6RFeGcY3FZXDfrg
