Quick check on email open-rate tracking
Do we actually rely on open rate as a metric today (in GMass, Instantly, or wherever we track outreach)?
Has anyone noticed our current open rates looking unusually high or inflated? (This is often a sign of Apple's Mail Privacy Protection or Gmail pre-loading images, which fakes "opens" that never really happened — it's a known industry issue, not specific to us.)
Want to confirm whether this actually gives relaible data to trust on?
Yep, open rate feels high for us as of now, we're using instantly for tracking and outreach
Do you rely on the open rate data?
Not really, but yeah a metric to be considered, we majorly focus on reply rate, meeting booked
Got itty
We highly discourage enabling open tracking as it's just a false positive and increase the chances of landing in spam. it's a pixel injection in the email body and most ESPs filter those as part of spam detection (most of the share to open rates) Focus on reply rates only
Ayaan A. 100% open rates are mostly a vanity metric these days 📉 you’re completely right about apple and gmail pre-loading images and faking those opens. some of the newer tools are getting better at separating machine clicks from actual human clicks, which gives a slightly clearer picture, so we keep an eye on them. but at the end of the day we don’t build strategy around them. we mostly rely on hard metrics like meetings booked and lead magnets downloaded to know what’s actually working
