Billy P. after speaking with support, the verdict is it's not possible to detect duplicates within a column other than running dedupe. If you happen to figure out a way though, please let me know! A workaround for this could potentially be to use ChatGPT or Claude by importing your data separately instead of in Clay. Good luck!

Rather than using the dedupe feature (because that will remove entries from the table) is there a way through the use of a formula that will tell me if something is a duplicate or not? i.e. We've extracted the LinkedIn username or we are looking at last names for the inputs - within these columns, can you tell me if an entry is a duplicate or not (yes/no)? Thank you!

For some reason those are blank in the preview. -I'm wondering if these missing values are affecting the formula output that identifies duplicates - Can the table recognize these values if they are blank in the preview? Here's the prompt related to the video I shared - I don't seem to be encountering the issue right now when testing. Billy P. I've been trying to do this exact thing, but no luck. I have an ongoing thread with support right now if you want to follow (link below). Also, not sure if this helpful to the bug that's been submitted, but I entered in dummy data and the preview appears to be deleting or just not displaying any instance where there's a duplicate Last Name in the sample output. I.e. Doe was entered twice and so was Smith, but Clay isn't displaying in the output even though they are entered into the table.

Ah gotcha, makes sense. I'll give it a try, but understood on the limitations I'll likely encounter. Is there a word or terminology that I can write down for future reference that defines this concept regarding the limitation on row analysis? Just curious what the technical terminology is behind this, so I know the lingo.

I wouldn't want to run a de dupe though since the action removes things from our table. Could I just create a formula to tell me any duplicate or similar values that exist in a particular column?

Thanks so much for the guided walkthrough - I converted the inputs and the preview is still the same. Column is saved within the table.
