Using Clay to Find Industry Associations for Speaking Opportunities

·
·

Whatsup all, wondering how I can use Clay to build a list of industry associations/groups We want to find speaking opportunities within the financial service industry. So we want to get a list of trade associations/conferences/organizations It seems too specific to just try to build a company or Sales nav list, there may only be 10-50 big ones in each industry where people aggregate and we need all of them, so I'm thinking

  • Perhaps have Claygent do research and find all organizations?

  • Or, are there any integrations in Clay built for this? Maybe this is a Google search scraping sort of job?

  • Or, anyone know of any websites or directories where you can find trade associations in industries?

Hi Alexander, thanks for reaching out. What I would suggest here is leveraging our Chrome extension and finding lists of these associations online, to then pull those into Clay and enrich them, find people and decision makers working there, and eventually reach out if that's your plan. Here's an overview on how you can set this up: https://www.loom.com/share/aff1c249763c4c7a82b854a7cc9a12a5 You can download the chrome extension here: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/clay-for-chrome/acmfklpkefjlldbkdgmjoiknfgidadoh?hl=en I hope this was helpful. If there's anything else I can assist you with, please let me know!

Bruno R. Is there a way to also scrape the URL? When I hover over it, it shows two attributes- text, and url, but I can only scrape the text

Hey Bruno one more thing, I compiled a list from manual scraping but it's time consuming, and I know there's more out there than what's listed on some of these directories, so I'm looking for Claygent to help me fill in gaps and find what I didn't find from my manual searching I tried a claygent prompt but it didn't work and gave back a weird response Could you let me know what's wrong, or if there was something in my prompt that should be better? Or if there's a better way to do this entirely let me know thanks. Prompt I want you to act as a researcher and prospect list builder. Help me build an exhaustive list of every single trade association or industry group for the Financial Services industry, and all of the related sub industries. I want as many as possible, at least 300. This will take time. Be thorough and take your time. You can start by searching Google for terms like "Financial industry associations" and "Financial services conferences" and "Financial services associations" and "Financial professional associations" and so on and so on. You can also take the same search pattern and try sub industries, like "Wealth management associations" and "Insurance professional associations and conferences" etc. This is just an example, not an exact formula to follow. Try your best. Return me the only the name of the associaiton, group, or conference, and the domain. Get me as many as possible. Search as much as possible on Google. Sometimes, you may find a website that gives you a directory or list of a bunch of them, in one place.

Hi Alexander, thanks for following up on this. You should be able to pull the URLs as attributes here. Here's a video showing you how you can select this attribute: https://downloads.intercomcdn.com/i/o/1194448637/b982dd47c63b91f759ae0d06/CleanShot+2024-09-26+at+11_31_39.gif?expires=1727367300&signature=f75f14245c2f1ac94a5c4b807841923c0988d89fe10b5527b7a6508dd9218dca&req=dSEuEs16lYdcXvMW1HO4zfqN37YODqp5CRXe5lJ8ns1oKRJw1t87yJT6Zk84%0A3gJg%0A Once you select the attribute on the page, you'll be able to toggle between the different datatypes associated with that attribute. As for your second question. Can you send me a link to your table? I'll be happy to take a look at your inputs and outputs here and see what may be causing the issues with your prompting. The main problem I see here is that you're directing Claygent to perform a broad research task, when there is an 8000 character cell limit beyond which you won't be able to view Claygent run results. Have you tried running a basic company search, selecting "industry associations" as a company industry and adding keywords like "finance" and "insurance" to narrow down your association search? This seems to be yielding good results for me: https://downloads.intercomcdn.com/i/o/1194461379/461c6899259da9f2bf1dea10/CleanShot+2024-09-26+at+11_40_23.gif?expires=1727367300&signature=9841010af5c1856be9d706175377f490614a82f35c13a648d4940c6eb8bf386e&req=dSEuEs14nIJYUPMW1HO4zYSW7%2F0VGcJDi0Q6ehotzWn4auW1If8qBt9qG2iR%0Avum9%0A I hope this was helpful.
