One issue everyone runs into when doing outbound: the AI sometimes pulls ancient news; for example, congratulating a founder on a funding round from 18 months ago.
Here's a fix I'm using:
Added a cut‑off date filter to toss any headline past its freshness date.
Asked Claygent to include the news/post date in a new column so stale ice‑breakers are easy to spot and skip.
You can prevent outdated news in your outbound by using the Google News action in Clay with these steps:
1. Add the Google News action to your table
2. Enter your search query in Step 1
3. In Step 3 (Optional), use the date filter to specify a timeframe - you can select from options ranging from "past hour" to "past year"
4. The results will include publication dates, allowing you to easily identify and skip stale news
This ensures you're only referencing recent, relevant news in your outreach.
