i have a company table and people table - when i import a csv file to the company table i expect the people search to get updated and new people to be found. it's not working as expected
To update your people data after importing new companies, you'll need to manually rerun the lookup in your people table. Here's what you should know: 1. The companies and people tables are automatically linked in the same workbook. 2. To refresh the data: • Look for the second column in your Find People table (marked with a Clay Logo) • This column is called "Lookup Single Row in Other Table" • Rerun this lookup to pull in the enriched company data for your new companiesMake sure you have the right table and data fields linked for the search to work properly. If your setup isn't correct, the search will be unrelated to your imported companies. Looks like you're still looking for help. We're escalating this over to our support team and someone should be in touch soon. In the meantime, feel free to include any other information that may be helpful in solving your issue!
Hi Kushagra, thanks for reaching out. Taking a look at this now!
Do you mind sending the link (url) to the table so we can take a look? https://downloads.intercomcdn.com/i/o/w28k1kwz/1347419411/65baf32e1d2a789ffba395c6d35c/CleanShot+2025-01-22+at+_42I1FzxXHf%402x.png?expires=1738334700&signature=476ea6d0dfbb9abbdd018227eaadbd6b94082fc4397f3295fc292a416b159b4e&req=dSMjEc1%2FlIVeWPMW1HO4zVws4pk0DlCvgvYjA82bedCrTA%3D%3D%0A
Thanks for sending through the table Kushagra - form this table it seems as if: 1. You've imported a list of companies through a csv. 2. Are running a people search using Apollo as well as our native people search feature. What you're trying to achieve here is running that people search on a set cadence, is that correct? You'd like this search to update every day - is this right?
No, I would like to run the people search automatically on import if no people were found in apollo.
So import is the trigger not a set cadence.
Clear, thank you Kushagra. In this case, I suggest using conditional formulas the same way you've employed them in your write to other table setup. The new condition should be: "Only run if {{Apollo search}} is empty". This is a formula which should achieve what you're describing when pasted in your run conditions for your people search: {{Find People at Company By Job Title}}?.results?.people?.length === 0 && {{Find People at Company By Job Title}}?.results?.contacts?.length === 0 https://downloads.intercomcdn.com/i/o/w28k1kwz/1359724954/a14c3af067406993fec97475c0ff/CleanShot+2025-01-31+at+09_20_37%402x.png?expires=1738334700&signature=e4924aa4da4900b1f093377e0ee0d5bb0821864487a95a1ed3799390a49c70d6&req=dSMiH858mYhaXfMW1HO4zVPMHIOOD3quuvFKyTr7A2HCSAHBlp78WnWlJDhe%0AU6ET%0A
Thanks Bruno. Yeah I had the conditional formula. That's not the issue. Issue is even when the people search is updated if you look at the Clay people table - no people are found ie no rows are added.
It looks like there are no results around the chief executive officers search for the companies in this table - this is why the leads are not pulled into your subsequent people search table: https://downloads.intercomcdn.com/i/o/w28k1kwz/1359795194/1c1ee7192804d970587945deed65/CleanShot+2025-01-31+at+10_03_59%402x.png?expires=1738337400&signature=f8afc5d60984ce9a3fb6edf6527050ecee647141ac15de782d55f1e154926965&req=dSMiH853mIBWXfMW1HO4zQPbksa2EqnJD4QjU9FZ6mBJ97Sb7ifJNoujgxha%0Anh1B%0A
I thought so too at first, but if you look at another version of this table here - https://app.clay.com/workspaces/12255/workbooks/wb_bmPbj3EMzo4q/tables/t_U6XTFxNJf6j3/views/gv_itg6wzw4robB clay had found people in these companies earlier
so people are present, but there's something wrong with how people search works on import and with conditional formulas
Something seems indeed to have gone wrong here - I ran some tests but was not able to reproduce this issue - I set up your people search column from scratch here, and the issue seems to be resolved - some leads were imported to the new people search table in the same workbook: https://app.clay.com/workspaces/12255/workbooks/wb_JUxERFgRara5/tables/t_MUzRDiZmcxxG/views/gv_WyruzQSw3g6R I hope this was helpful. If there's anything else I can assist you with, please let me know!
got it thanks bruno will check this table is not as much of a problem, just need to ensure the process will work as expected, because i am trying to create a template that can work for multiple imports one problem i am still struggling with is despite having a conditional run for the clay people column ie only run when apollo hasn't found anyone - clay people search still runs for all companies this is evident from the clay people table
I believe the issue with the run conditions stems from setting up the people search to process all leads and output results to a separate table - we can only edit the run conditions after the initial setup here. So if you were to add new leads to this table, it would respect the run conditions, but it did not with the initial batch. To establish the run conditions from the start, you'll need to follow the same approach as with Apollo—set the run conditions for the column, execute the run, and write the outputs to a separate table. Does that make sense?
i see, so currently there's no way to run people search conditionally and it just takes all the domains as input from the company table on import?
i can send a loom in a bit to explain this better
I recorded this video to clarify some concepts, I believe this is best explained here: https://www.loom.com/share/2e036b9481aa46048d0c7c0cbf957110?sid=e758b10a-1e5e-4bab-bf49-99fdd4856784 I hope this was helpful. If there's anything else I can assist you with, please let me know!
This people search enriches the profile of the leads it's ran on compared to just running a regular people search - it adds more depth of enrichment to the same lead if that makes sense. Hence the cost difference.
Hey there - just wanted to check in here to see if you needed anything else! Feel free to reply back here if you do.
We haven't heard back from you in a bit, so we're going to go ahead and close things out here - feel free to let us know if you still need something!
