Hi everyone! I have been struggling to connect my email for the Clay Sequencer (Using SMTP + Outlook) Has anyone managed to get this working? Password redacted for privacy but login details are correct TIA
For Outlook SMTP setup in Clay Sequencer, we recommend using Google OAuth instead of SMTP if you're using Google Workspace, as it's more reliable.
If you must use SMTP and are getting verification errors despite correct credentials, try these Outlook-specific settings:
SMTP host: [smtp.office365.com](https://smtp.office365.com) (instead of smtp-mail.outlook.com)
SMTP port: 587 with TLS encryption
IMAP host: [outlook.office365.com](https://outlook.office365.com)
IMAP port: 993 with SSL
Also ensure your Outlook account has "Less secure app access" enabled or use an app-specific password if you have 2FA enabled.
Did that answer your question?
Sorry that's not working
The verification process checks several components including syntax formatting, domain verification through DNS records, and individual mailbox validation using SMTP protocol. [1] Email verification tools communicate with the mail server to confirm that the specific user mailbox exists and can accept mail. [2]
Since the standard Outlook settings didn't resolve your verification issue, there may be additional authentication requirements on your Outlook account. Microsoft often requires app-specific passwords for third-party applications when two-factor authentication is enabled, or your organization may have specific security policies blocking external SMTP connections.
Are you using a personal Outlook account or a business/organizational Outlook account with your company's domain?
It's a business account with our company domain
Business Outlook accounts often have additional security restrictions that block third-party SMTP connections. Your IT administrator may need to authorize Clay Sequencer or configure specific security policies to allow external SMTP access.
Try asking your IT team to whitelist Clay's SMTP connection or check if your organization requires app registration for third-party email tools.

Hi Amy, thanks for reaching out. Are you using a free Outlook.com account for this set up? Generally we recommend using our Outlook OAuth set up as this is the most secure. If this is not an option for you, can you test setting your SMTP port to 587 instead?
I have tried SMTP with port 587 that but unfortunately it isn't working
Hey Amy, after syncing with the team we learned that Outlook has actually deprecated IMAP support since 2022, so if you want to add Outlook accounts your best bet is to use Outlook OAuth instead. Hope this helps!
