Understanding Auto-Updated Feature: Frequency and Usage Explained

What is the intended use for the auto-updated feature? If I enable this on a table I am working on, don't come back and check it for a week or two, will it have run again and updated the information? If so how often does an auto-update run?

Auto-update is designed to automatically enrich new rows and sync records in your table every 24 hours. This means that yes, if you don't check your table for a week or two, it will have continued to run and update the information. While auto-update can be helpful for fully automated workflows, it's important to note that it can result in unnecessary credit usage if rows are added by mistake or before you're ready. Best practice is to:** Turn off auto-update while building and experimenting with your table ** Only enable it once your setup is finalized and you're ready to launchIf you leave auto-update enabled, be aware that you might run into credit usage from unintended updates, but disabling it might lead to stale data problems. Oh shoot, I wish when hovering over the 'i' the message would state that having this feature on would continue to consume credits! That explains a lot. /:

I appreciate your feedback. Would you like me to explain more about how credits are used with this feature?

When auto-update is enabled, Clay uses credits each time it enriches new rows or syncs records in your table. Credits are consumed whenever data is enriched through various data providers, with each provider having a set cost per result. To help you manage credit usage effectively, auto-update is actually turned off by default to prevent unexpected credit consumption. Here's the recommended approach for using auto-update:** Keep it turned off while building and experimenting with your table ** Only enable it when your table setup is finalized and you're ready for automated workflows * Be mindful that any new rows added to your table will automatically trigger enrichments and use credits when auto-update is on Sources: Guide: Ways to save Clay credits | Clay University Turn on Auto Update
