Is there a way to research information within a CRM (Salesforce)? My task is to research leads that came from marketing campaign if they are part of a company that already uses our solution. Not sure if Clay has such abilities or simply it could export records from CRM and enrich based on website, LI profiles etc.
You can use Clay as a data cleanroom to research and validate your marketing campaign leads in several ways: 1. Import your leads from Salesforce into Clay to analyze them: • Clay can sync directly with your CRM to pull in lead data • This helps prevent duplicate records by checking if the lead's information already exists 2. Use Clay's enrichment capabilities to: • Qualify leads early using conditional runs • Get free basic company and people enrichment data for initial qualification • Check for duplicate companies or contacts 3. Leverage Clay's extensive enrichment tools to: • Access 80+ databases to maximize data coverage • Use AI web research to verify company information • Create custom filters and lead scores based on your specific criteria 4. Once enriched, you can update the records back in Salesforce automatically to maintain your CRM as the source of truth Sources: Salesforce integration overview | Documentation | Clay University Intro to CRM Data Enrichment [CRM Enrichment] - Clay University Clay for RevOps | Clay.com Recruit Sales Managers | Clay

Hey there, thanks for reaching out! While on your free trial you have the ability to import records from Salesforce! If these individuals related to the marketing campaign you mentioned are within a list in Salesforce you can easily import them into a Clay table during the table creation process. Steps to Take: 1. Connect your SFDC account to Clay (go to your settings and "Add Connection" and sign into Salesforce, image below) 2. Create a new table, select import records from a Salesforce list 3. Follow the menu by selecting your API key, then defining the type of record this is along with which list it's in 4. Press continue and import them into a new Clay table! 5. From here you can map associated data from SFDC into their own columns within Clay, use Claygent to perform research, and use our other enrichment options Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions. :) More documentation surrounding this can be found here: https://www.clay.com/university/lesson/salesforce-clay-101 https://downloads.intercomcdn.com/i/o/w28k1kwz/1336478177/4fdf2ef749afef4f61b816a011f7/CleanShot+2025-01-15+at+09_58_33.png?expires=1736955000&signature=d69243f3b5c34a034874d05b7f7896ea7e2f93e61f38efba461b5414df760166&req=dSMkEM15lYBYXvMW1HO4zfbp5X95jOG%2Fgdt4IKC1j0eSngojm5gl21cjgoPc%0AKDT6%0A https://downloads.intercomcdn.com/i/o/w28k1kwz/1336481794/dd3d3485656fabf913ef9828969d/CleanShot+2025-01-15+at+09_59_37.png?expires=1736955000&signature=2ffae5ee1d8e653bc6c24702aea2d5fe21a9e1dfc92368cc49754d9e16fd2903&req=dSMkEM12nIZWXfMW1HO4zSNFAAgVdKfcsqg8jne0rJoahmb5LUx%2F8MpqRxQh%0AMAMG%0A https://downloads.intercomcdn.com/i/o/w28k1kwz/1336486059/2d0ccf9d376152b2a90bc17a34f7/CleanShot+2025-01-15+at+10_02_12.png?expires=1736955000&signature=0071b4b75360a875680f1b3ed00bbfc87bb378b9e7f91e3605c210d081264fec&req=dSMkEM12m4FaUPMW1HO4zecHKuEb30xCKcu5Wqd8Jyv135aQyUT1tYfqINlo%0A6bS2%0A
I think what you described is related to the fact that I can import people from a specific marketing campaign and then enrich them based on website, linkedin profile page etc. I get that. However, is there a way to enrich those people based on information from the CRM? Example: I get person as a lead in Salesforce which is from company ABC Inc. However, he is not linked to the account in our CRM and I should check further if that company has already a product of ours.
Got it, curious, what data are you collecting during this marketing campaign? Regardless, this should be feasible using our 'lookup record' function. We would start by taking the company name and finding the associated website/URL using our data providers or Claygent. Next, we’d use this URL to look up the account within Salesforce to determine if the account exists, and if so, check if the company has previously purchased a product of yours. Let me know if this makes sense and which data points you're collecting during the campaign!
The data points collected are mainly names, company, country, phone number and email address. The lookup function might work to research current accounts in the CRM, will check that further.
Got it, let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. There is almost certainly a way to make this work, it may be worth testing out creating a table from scratch importing records from a Salesforce list if all of these leads are associated with a certain list. Many ways to go about this, let me know how I can be most useful. :)
I am certain that it should be possible. I mean the Clay possibilities are endless. Just tried the lookup function and it get's account records in the CRM, not sure if it gets the information that I am looking for, but will test that further.
Thanks a lot, Owen
I have some progress with the workflow - I get to find the account related to name and website. Then I get the assets to see if they actually have the specific product I am selling. However, The account lookup row gets a few results as there might be a few records for the same company. Can I lookup the assets of all of them at once? Currently, it gets only the assets of the first result of the account which might not be the most relevant. Not sure if I am able to explain it correctly.
Now worries at all, do you mind sharing the URL to the Clay table where is this is happening so we can take a closer look? https://downloads.intercomcdn.com/i/o/1171717996/ac7729f84b426e1d0358af02/image.png?expires=1736959500&signature=21bd5fa723cb63581156b41a98cb2faff9535e6c9c233232e9113431f127b410&req=dSEgF85%2FmohWX%2FMW1HO4zYTywS31A54T2BKsam%2FhVPuR1g%3D%3D%0A
Interesting! I’m curious, why would there be multiple accounts associated with the same domain? Theoretically, you could create additional lookup columns to handle the extra account IDs that are pulled. However, this integration doesn’t support looking up multiple records at once. A potential workaround would be to send the account data to a separate table, where each row represents a single account. This way, each account can be associated with a specific lead (or multiple leads) from the original table. Once that’s set up, the integration could look up assets for all the accounts found. Finally, that data could be pulled back into the original table if that approach makes sense. Let me know your thoughts!
