Using AI to Match Companies with Third Party References in Clay

ยท
ยท

Trying to do something in Clay that I think should be able to be done BUT I haven't seen it done. In Table A, I have a list of approved third party references. I have also added columns that include the locale, employee size and industries of these companies. Over in Table B, I have the companies we're going to contact - also including locale, employee size and industries. In Table B, I want it to look at Table A to find the third party reference that is most similar to the company I'm targeting. So I'm trying to accomplish a type of look up BUT it's not a pure lookup with Equals or Contains but a lookup that would use ChatGPT (or similar) to draw the reference between the two.

I understand you're looking to create intelligent matches between your reference companies and target companies using multiple data points. That's a great use case for data enrichment! Here's an efficient approach: Use AI formulas or AI to generate standardized tags for both tables across locale, employee size, and industries. This will create consistent comparison points. Then, you can set up lookups using these standardized tags to find the most relevant matches. Let me know if you need more help - Happy Thursday๐Ÿ‘‹

Thank you - that's good advice but I'm having trouble getting it to work. Some context: I originally intended to use 4 different criteria to match the most relevant reference, but when I did this, I got all errors, so I tried to troubleshoot by simplifying. Curiously, if I do the lookup on a single field, it works fine. https://app.clay.com/workspaces/217198/tables/t_pPojJAHQgFWF/views/gv_NvJZ9gDzzWCe (Column Match Type of Org). However, when I try to do this on Find Match Column Target (column to the right) it's throwing no record found. To be clear, not all of these will match, but some of them do, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I even simplified it to only use 2 criteria but that didn't seem to help.

Hey there Marcuss thanks for reaching out, jumping in for Bo here, found what was causing the column to not run here. There was an extra white space between the dash the second response column being used. Removing it is now showing results being found. https://downloads.intercomcdn.com/i/o/w28k1kwz/1253858960/3fde92bde8b0041812703a09e57e/image.png?expires=1731717900&signature=e9e6019ecd23b31466ef11ae42e81055b0f9c0870fa47ffb95ebc36b006c96a1&req=dSIiFcF7lYhZWfMW1HO4zXmE9EUnuG09WK7AbKAlNOtaxKFfEb2Q4jWUtxUZ%0ABsu4%0A
