Concerns About Inaccuracies in 'Find People' Functionality

ยท
ยท

Hey team, I'm just wondering how accurate the 'Find People' function is? I have a list of company URL, and used claygent to scrape the company linkedin URL. When I use the find people function, the results almost seems incomplete or too little. But when I manually check the company LinkedIn page, I know that there are definitely more people that should be appearing compared to the ones that Clay has filtered out. Is there a reason why? Appreciate the help

Hello Asher! Clay does not receive data directly from LinkedIn, but rather through third party data providers that scrape LinkedIn. Results from the people search typically get impacted by the following instances: 1. Inputting semantic search parameter instead of syntactic search: A limited set of job title keywords are applied to the role being targeted. Our search algorithms are based on syntactic search which means you must put every variation of the keywords you're looking for (ie CEO and Chief Executive Officer). When this happens, some matching profiles may be missed because they were not included in the search query. Sales Nav is able to do semantic search which is also helpful. โ€‹ โ€‹2. Mapping the wrong inputs in the people filters. For example, not mapping LinkedIn urls from the company table to run the search. โ€‹ 3. Search limits applied to the people search. This reduces the number of records that can be imported from a search. โ€‹ 4. Private profiles: Our data providers use a multitude of ways to access people and company data. For the most part though, we don't use your cookie/login data. This means that we could miss some information here and there, especially if there are privacy restrictions in place for certain profiles. This would mean that your logged in profile has access to it, but our data providers may not. Sales Nav has access to private profiles which is also why you might find better data quality results here. All this being said, we're continuously working on improving our search algorithm/building the best growth tool possible and are always looking for feedback! If you have specific examples of the differences between your search results, please do share and I'd be more than happy to pass your feedback along to our engineering team. Can you share a people table url that currently has this issue? Happy to make updates & suggestions for your workflow where needed.

Hey Tomi F., appreciate the help and giving more insights into it! Point #1 could be a factor, but from what I know, points #4 is probably the bigger factor. At least the region I'm trying to do people search on, it's in the Southeast region, where many people tend to keep their profiles private. So that makes sense. But I've been seeing alot of people also using Apollo as a starting point to get contacts as there are more results there, so I may potentially do that, and use Clay afterwards for enrichment.

That's definitely a popular option. If you'd like, send a link to the table with the search or the search parameters here and I can take a look to see if we can get better results in Clay. That way you don't have to import the leads from elsewhere.

Hey Bo (., thanks for that! I was actually not just trying to find the CEO, but also personas like marketing director, head of marketing, head of ecommerce, etc. Does that mean for every persona, I have to do a new column and use claygent to find a different persona? If I'm just finding the CEO, I can see how using Claygent would work well. But in this case, I'm trying to find everybody that has titles like CEO, marketing director, head of marketing, head of ecommerce, etc. Which is why I wanted to use the 'Find People' in the first place.

Hey Asher! Thanks for reaching out. Happy to help here. If the goal is to find as many profiles as possible that match those title keywords, you can also try other search options like Snov.io or Datagma's employee search (see screenshot below). You can also set one or two Claygent columns to find at least one matching persona for a CEO and Marketing Director, and define column outputs for both results. However, this will require additional steps to convert the output into a JSON array or incur additional cost if a second Claygent column is run. I made a quick video explaining this here: https://www.loom.com/share/0fb8a54f229c4574bf496e5b0fe7e69e Let me know if this helps! https://downloads.intercomcdn.com/i/o/w28k1kwz/1204884946/6d7c7df70b538574d245e848666c/CleanShot+2024-10-04+at+23_25_19%402x.png?expires=1728083700&signature=8ea559279cb14977cc9a0dbd671b52ce35a608e1ed37a0dceb24da7a12f5ee39&req=dSInEsF2mYhbX%2FMW1HO4zewB7500RfkFodvKywtzBFobdp07RraTOREyJ8%2Fz%0AXcNR%0A https://downloads.intercomcdn.com/i/o/w28k1kwz/1204884775/6cd998583ce1ba12034ffd294d13/CleanShot+2024-10-04+at+23_25_05%402x.png?expires=1728083700&signature=d8d7302fce90ffed65d298d20bb386c7ad13064e534129f0141968109ee65e7d&req=dSInEsF2mYZYXPMW1HO4ze0C69S6GSpUIxxMd65p3%2BcFY8gXxYDj5zZtxqZT%0AEXPe%0A

Hey Daniela D., I looked through the video, and also tried both Datagma & Snow.io options! Both options doesn't seem to work as well as compared to if I go into Apollo. You can see the results here. https://app.clay.com/workspaces/300718/workbooks/wb_rGkBUjy6o6M8/tables/t_Uqra2sCYzMkM/views/gv_g8GXAUwi7gxf From the video wise, I can imagine that working really well if I was to search for very specific job titles and I want exact match.

Hey Asher! Thanks for the reply. Sorry about that. Do you have an Apollo account? If you do, you can connect to the integration in Clay to find contacts with matching job titles (see screenshot below) and export the results to another table with the write to table integration. https://downloads.intercomcdn.com/i/o/w28k1kwz/1207206860/61f369a8edfa17a1bb54f32e6a75/CleanShot+2024-10-07+at+13_08_35%402x.png?expires=1728305100&signature=aaf2be68a832cc0dca8aafcfcbd9dae1c34ecb8ee78307fa18cc77e20a1cddfc&req=dSInEct%2Bm4lZWfMW1HO4zXjksd%2FXkwJYgUiJe5CfdD80auP7b0FyYj72CjDt%0AFQDE%0A
