Hey, has anybody figured out how to exclude multiple clay lists from your search? Seems like a no-brainer feature to me, but can't find an easy way to do it...
Hi Eddie! Happy to help. I'm curious to learn more about your use case/goals, so I can point you in the right direction. When you say "exclude lists from your search", what search are you referring to? Also, what data does those lists include? People/Company data? Let me know and happy to dive deeper :)
Hey Daniel, thanks for your response. I'm talking about people search - and the exclude list feature in people search. Is there a way to exclude multiple lists? Because I would like to remove all contacts that have been previously used from my new table.
Hi, thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately, you can't exclude multiple lists directly from a people search. However, you can create a single table with all the people you want to exclude and use that table to filter out the individuals you're not interested in. Hereβs how you can do this: First, create a new blank people table. Then, use the 'Write to Table' enrichment (shown below) to import records from your other existing people tables. https://downloads.intercomcdn.com/i/o/w28k1kwz/1258099880/30adfd8cd0e08cf46bb0b5801e7b/CleanShot+2024-11-19+at+13_10_51%402x.png?expires=1732041900&signature=e57410f50f63f67f48396152bfee30119b59ccb1a8b15a9414d3e69419477d59&req=dSIiHsl3lIlXWfMW1HO4zdtLwoqV4UNljfq24Gu6CvW30Fx4iIDMKXMFl68o%0Ap4P%2B%0A This will fill the new table with all the individuals from the other table. By repeating this process for each table you want to import people from, you'll then be able to use the newly created table to exclude those individuals from a later people search. Let me know if this helps!
Thanks Stefano. When I tried using that feature, I couldnt actually move the imported profiles. Sure, I could move the data of individual columns, but it wouldn't actually be like moving an imported profile. Tell me if I'm misunderstanding the workflow.
Do you mind sending the link to the table so we can take a look? https://downloads.intercomcdn.com/i/o/1171717996/ac7729f84b426e1d0358af02/image.png?expires=1732045500&signature=aa9bd53db40161595df46702683afec1f0b16998683785f4feaabda9d59d95d6&req=dSEgF85%2FmohWX%2FMW1HO4zYTywSn8ApIT2BKsam%2FhVPsbiw%3D%3D%0A
Sure, here it is: https://app.clay.com/workspaces/402403/workbooks/wb_f5TjQnVD7aaG/tables/t_e3PH8cggjmXm/views/gv_FeYgcdRH5knk However the table currently doesn't have write to other table column, because I have deleted it.
Hi Eddie, I think the "Write to Other Table" function is causing some confusion for both of us. To achieve what you're aiming for, you should leave the "Select a list from a column" field blank. Next, under "Add other data from this table," you'll choose the column you want to export from this table to the next one. For example, as shown below, I'm importing the LinkedIn Profile URL column from one table to the corresponding column in the next table. https://downloads.intercomcdn.com/i/o/w28k1kwz/1258300227/a14997a40fa4008545e06dd06a88/CleanShot+2024-11-19+at+15_46_00%402x.png?expires=1732050900&signature=563c9bef8cafb8cec9e09df5aa6e18a03c06696a9467f7d2bb2f556671eed658&req=dSIiHsp%2BnYNdXvMW1HO4zQH9IPi%2BaeOhqkwxkhl0aPdkLvvz0f76TKm3FGPU%0At0gb%0A Make sure to include all the columns you want to duplicate by selecting "add" under "Add other data from this table." For instance, you could also add another value to copy the person's full name to the other table. Let me know if this helps!
Yep this helps, thanks. I played around with the feature and it seems (no 100% sure yet) clay will not import profiles that I brought from another table. I guess my question is, what is the data that Clay uses to tell that two profiles are the same person? - is it the linkedin URL?
Yes, it typically uses the LinkedIn URLs, as they are unique to each individual, unlike other things like "name," where two people could have the same name.
Understood, thank you.
