need some hlep with look up function in clay, still don´t get it...
To use the lookup function in Clay, follow these steps: 1. Select the object type you want to search (e.g., Salesforce account, other Clay table). 2. Choose the specific field or column to search within (e.g., Email, Name, Company). 3. Enter the search value and decide between an exact match or a "contains" search. 4. For Salesforce lookups, you can also: • Select multiple fields to filter by • Specify AND/OR logic for multiple filters • Set exact match or "contains" search 5. For lookups in other Clay tables, you can: • Choose between single row or multiple row lookups • Set a limit on the number of rows returned (for multiple row lookups) Remember, the lookup function helps you find and retrieve data from connected sources or other tables in your workspace.
for certain companies, I have some info in a table that i want to pull into another table. A simple vlookup (excel style). Can you please explain how to do that.
To perform a VLOOKUP-style operation in Clay, you can use our Lookup Rows feature. Here's how: 1. Use the "Lookup Single Row in Other Table" action for faster, single-row lookups. 2. For multiple rows, use the "Lookup Multiple Rows in Other Table" action. 3. Select the table you want to search in. 4. Choose the target column (similar to VLOOKUP's lookup column). 5. Set the filter operator (e.g., exact match or contains). 6. Enter the row value to search for. 7. For multiple row lookups, you can set a limit on returned rows. This feature allows you to bring information from one table into another, similar to VLOOKUP in spreadsheets.
does not work...
your naming convention is so confusing:
what is the "search key"? the value that I will try to find data for in the other table?
what is the column in which is the data I want to bring in my current table?
Hey Stephane, Here’s a quick video that walks through it: https://www.loom.com/share/ad767e3be9914d19a2f6647efe4dfa85?sid=c8b78c32-9bc1-4501-8124-d6c70d2218cf It should clear things up, but let me know if anything’s still confusing. Happy to help!
thank you!
