Can I get support to understand the credit usage? we connected with apollo and have run into some issues between the two tools and i'm trying to understand how it used up our apollo credits
Apollo integration does not use Clay credits, which is beneficial for users concerned about credit usage. However, if you're using Clay's API key for other data providers, they convert to Clay credits at set costs per result. If you use your own API keys, providers charge your account directly instead. To track your credit usage in Clay: 1. Click your account name → Settings → Credit usage 2. View breakdowns by table, integration, and time period 3. Click "Integrations" tab to see which integrations consume the most credits For Apollo-specific credit tracking, you'll need to check your Apollo account directly since Apollo credits are separate from Clay credits.
in the screenshot under others, you can see that 400k credits were used. I had the api set up between apollo and clay, but when examining clay credit usage... i don't see the correlation or indication of how a search within clay could've used that many credits in Apollo. Apollo support has not been able to identify a date or time on when the bulk of the credits were used, but I am hoping to understand from the Clay side if there are ways to determine a search used in Clay could have triggered massive credit usage in Apollo. I have since removed the apollo integration out of fear it was somehow using more credits there. I've provided screenshots of our clay account and the credits used since 4/1/25 to now, but you can see that the credits used only indicate the credits used within Clay.
Hey, I checked on the backend, and while we don’t track person enrichment via API as precisely as in-app actions, it does look like a significant number of credits were used by the table in this workbook: https://app.clay.com/workspaces/513413/workbooks/wb_UDQpBAvUSsF4/tables/t_amQTK5XyHs8s/views/gv_ek8dpRnnApkQ Although usage has slowed now, this table seems like the likely source of the spike. Let me know if you have more questions.
interesting! is this something we are able to check on our end? if not totally ok, but it gives us an understanding. is the number of credits used we're seeing specifically indicating what was used within apollo based on the api connection?
Hey, Yes, if you’re seeing usage tied to the Apollo package, it’s related to the Apollo API connection. That said, we don’t currently expose detailed tracking of Apollo-specific credit usage on your end, so it’s not something you can view directly in Clay right now. Let me know if you have more questions.
got it, thanks Bo. I have a use case related to the credits in Clay. If i wanted to validate whether someone still works at their company, is it better to use their email or linkedin to validate it? i was looking to use this but it does not work. https://www.clay.com/templates/verify-if-a-person-still-works-at-a-company
Hey, Using the LinkedIn URL is your best option—it gives the most reliable signal, especially when using the enriched person from Profile. Also, thanks for flagging the template issue. I’ve passed it along to our team so they can update it. Let me know if you have more questions.
