Hi I am new to Clay how do I separate the Investors/Acquirers column in Clay where investors are separated by the | character, and create separate columns for each investor. This column has investor data that is separated by | I want to make columns for each investor
Hi Leti, thank you for reaching out. Do you mind sending the link to the table so we can take a look? https://downloads.intercomcdn.com/i/o/1171717996/ac7729f84b426e1d0358af02/image.png?expires=1731085200&signature=e143dc32624692f9cba2de47ec56b8a650fac7a2396756f42d73e43d9da79172&req=dSEgF85%2FmohWX%2FMW1HO4zYTywSr8DpIU2BKsam%2FhVPvNqw%3D%3D%0A
Hi Leti! This can be done by using the "formula" enrichment on Clay. If it is okay with you, could I modify your table to create two columns: one with the investor and the other with an Acquirer. Is that okay with you?
Yes please that would be awesome
Hi Leti, have a look at the table now and let me know if what I did is correct!
Perfect thank you!
Can you point me to documentation on how to write these formulas so I can learn by reviewing what you did?
Of course! Using formulas on Clay is actually fairly simple as we use AI to convert natural language (like a prompt) into a javascript formula. Here is how this works: First, Select "Add Column" and then press on "Formula". This will make the following pop-up appear: https://downloads.intercomcdn.com/i/o/w28k1kwz/1244917710/ca00bf039903db6b0c7272ba4fe0/image.png?expires=1731087900&signature=52a2235d5ac014a29e35e3329609e82e34fb25e7e70155d978b689a44b9fd4dd&req=dSIjEsB%2FmoZeWfMW1HO4zXUbZQezk83Q%2BPWX3qzr4s99tA9uVYmK6D%2BgBtWD%0A4sVu%0A Under "Describe the formula you want" you will be able to tell Clay's software what you want to do. For example, in this cas you could say "Return all the names in /Investors that come before |" After doing so, just press on "Generate Formula". This will automatically create the formula you want in javascript. After this, you will be set and will be able to run our formula enrichment. Please note that as formulas use pre-existing information from the same table, they are free to use, so they are a very powerful tool on Clay! For more information, I recommend looking at this Clay University video. Please let me know if this answers your question.
thank you!!
I am trying to use AI Formula to take the location name which I enriched from Linkedin profile URL and make it into separate columns for city & state & country. https://app.clay.com/workspaces/331716/workbooks/wb_mjHvDpHKvTHy/tables/t_P6DynVbnku5X/views/gv_s8EKgHv49RXA My reason for doing this is i am looking to eventually use clay to match these people to companies based on formulas and the company data I have is city. state, zip code
Hi Leti, after reviewing your table, it looks like youโve used the "Use AI" formula feature correctly. However, formulas can only be used to generate one column at a time. This means you'll need to create separate columns for each entity you want to extract. For example, if you need columns for state, city, and zip code, you'll need to set up three different formulas, in three different columns, one for each. Let me know if that clears things up!
Yes makes sense! Thank you!! I am a very new user.
No worries Leti, I was also a new user once! I always recommend users to check out Clay University, as it contains some very helpful videos. Of course, not every video is necessary, but some of them might be useful for your use case. Good luck!
Yes I did complete the university and outbound course - now learning as I go and using the docs
